Pulled the trigger, bought a used Tige

I finally pulled the trigger and bought an older Tige. It is a 2001 21V in great shape (we also kept our Yamaha jet boat, for now). No cracks in the gel coat anywhere, not even at the tower mounts. Horizontal vinyl was redone a year ago and looks great. The teak platform looks new. The motor has 382 hours. It even has a new steering cable.

Test run in November went great. Perfect Pass worked great (I've never had something like that before). Mechanically it checked out fine. All in all, it does not look or run like a 12 year old boat!

Thanks to the board for putting up with my questions over the past couple of months. I never would have made the leap without the info, help, and knowledge of the folks on this board. I have other questions (can it throw a good surf wake?), but that can wait.

Before spring, I need to get the following (in no particular order):

    1) A new prop - I always like to have a spare. With 12 more years of technology behind it, I assume a new Acme prop will work even better than what is on there now.
    2) Ballast - I talked briefly to chpthril when this odyssey started, I will be following up soon. Probably start with a manual system for this season (sigh).
    3) Second bilge pump in front of the V-drive - just seems like a good idea.
    4) Flushing connection

Anything else? The kids want tower speakers, but they can work for those.
Thanks again everyone, now if only summer would hurry up and get here.

For a minute I thought you bought an assault weapon and let loose.

Seems to be a common occurence these days and socially acceptable among NRA folks.

Congratulations on your new purchase and welcome.

          Congrats on the new boat

Let us know what prop is on there, and we can make some recommendations for either a spare, or as most do, install an upgrade prop and keep the old as a spare. The diameter and pitch should be stamped into the front of the prop's hub. Also, let us know if its a 3 or 4 blade.

The engine is the Mercruiser MPI 350 (315hp). Was there another option that year?

The prop is a 4 blade. I can't get to it to check the numbers right now, and I don't think my picture is high enough resolution to read it.

Speaking of pictures... I will upload some soon.

No worries, you need an ACME 653

Just to be sure, lets confirm the V-drive gear ratio before assuming a 3 blade is the right choice.

Looks great. Way cleaner than the 21V I bought this winter. I ended up swaping to a acme 537 after research. But I haven't used it yet so no updates. Will be wakeboarding, tubing w/kids and mild surfing 400#-700#.
