I have a 22' boat but my V-8 4Runner does great. I have a thread on here somewhere about my trip moving from Del Rio, TX to Spokane, WA.

I have a AWD Yukon Denali. It has the 6.2L in it and will pull our boat out of any ramp, and up any hill. The only problem is it knows what to do with the premium fuel that it calls for. I would personally stear away from the Jeep. I work on every make and model all day long. Jeep is one of the worst put together vehicles made. You may want to look at some of the jeep forums to see some of the problems i.e window regulators, fuel vapor canisters, and the over all quality of the SUV. I wouldn't think there would be a problem with a 4WD jeep pulling it up the ramp with such a short distance. But I wouldn't think it would be a very good every day car. I would get a 2000's model Z71 for around $7500 and get a toyota corolla to drive everyday. But evreyone to there own!

we tow our 12 RZR with a 2012 Jeep wrangler Unlimited rubicon and never gave me an issue. Plenty of power and decent fuel economy while towing.

It does GREAT because it's a Toyota.

You are way over your max tow rating on that thing! Did you upgrade your hitch to a class III at least? My wife wants a Wrangler Unlimited but its 3,500 lb tow rating and lack of power has kept us from getting one since we have an RZ2 which is probably in the 6k lb range on the trailer.

I always take into account that my wife and kids will be in this vehicle also so I want something that is going to hold its own against other vehicles also there is so many variables to take into account you could second guess any descision you make

The new 3.6l pentastar and new 5speed tows great. We pulled about 1000 miles in 2012 no issue. We do have a rubicon which has 4.10 ratio axle and heavier duty axles and suspension then Sahara or sport model. I figure im about 4k lbs with trailer which is about 200lb over max gvwr. Stock max tow package hitch. No. Issues there either. I always pull boat out of water in 4lo and it will idle the trailer out of the ramp. I wouldn't even think about towing an rz2 with a wrangler though.

A quarter mile..... buy a tractor and forget about some "crappy" tow vehicle. You won't set any speed records...... But be careful -- steep ramps and undersized tractors can be dangerous. Roll bars and good counter balances are also a good idea.

I pull my 04 24V with a 05 F150 2WD with the 5.4 motor and the motor has no issues but I can tell you the 1/2 ton suspension does not want any more! I am contemplating a 3/4 ton diesel, or at least it is on my wish list.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but if you havent ever heard... The 1 pound that puts you over your GVWR or GAWR or GCWR will void all insurance in the case of an accident, any accident that occurs you WILL get a ticket from the police and your insurance company will most likely (99% of the time) deny the claim due to your personal negligence.

Now dont get me wrong i too have overloaded on occassion, but mine is all registered as farm use and different laws apply to farm vehicles so it is different. No doubt the vehicle can handle it but there are many more factors that need to go into this decision. My truck COULD tow 40,000 lbs... but could it safely stop it?? probably not. Would it be stable driving in HIGH winds, probably not. Could you control the load going down a steep graded hill... Probably not. Lots more than just motor and gears come into play when towing. just my

3/4 turbo diesel is the way to go! Ford, GM, Dodge, whatever you like. I love my F250 Powerstroke. Loaded up with gear, gas, and the most of the time 500 lbs front ballast still full it pulls my 21V like a champ. Its my everyday driver as well.
