If I'm coming from DFW area, where's the best place to drop the boat in at PK?

The East side of the lake will b the closest, but a lot of ramps are closed right now with the lake right at 10' low. Pretty sure one of the two D&D ramps are open. Some of the marinas ramps are open also, but some of them charge as much as $25. To get to D&D, follow park rd 36 intil it splits, then take 2951 past the public ramp ( closed ) until you see the sign for D&D. Probably about 2 miles.

If you want to go further to the West side, the state park's ramp isn't too bad - we use it all the time. I haven't heard if its open or not though - it is alittle cheaper too.

At PK, we have always boated up the river end on the northeast end of the lake, best water ive found there to board and surf. But that is where most ramps are closed due to low levels. I agree with these guys if you can you need to find the deeper water launch points. If you do go up river there are shallow points and sand banks that are high enough to run aground in the middle of the lake so if you dont KNOW the area FOLLOW THE CHANNEL MARKERS they are the safest way to travel that lake.

Also a side note, if you run into this problem like i did... I have a very tall truck and the upgraded trailer so the trailer sits higher than most so more water is needed to launch and retrieve. My rtuck would tend to be 20 feet in the water (a not steep ramp) so had to go deep. at that point the trailer would drop off of the end of the concrete ramp... no problem my truck pulled everything just perfect never slipped... The thing i found to do was just for me to have truck driver back trailer of of ramp that gave the boat enough water to float off and back straight out as far as possible before turning. Worked perfect... Now i worried about retrieving the boat... Same process: back trailer off ramp load boat strap the front strap then i and a buddy would get the rear tie downs (the ones that are attached to trailer) and hook and ratchet them and the trailer would pull itself up and the boat holds it afloat. Start pulling it out and you will feel the trailer on the concrete again. Kinda crazy but worked parfectly for me. Just in case you ran into that situation.
