    Thanks guys,

I would like to clarify because I don't want you to think that you deserve or should get lesser quality of service. You should however take into consideration that you are probably going to rub your local dealer the wrong way a little bit by bringing a boat you bought somewhere else in for service. Understand, they do have customers that have purchased boats from them, that will be in for service that will take precedence over your boat. What would you think if you had purchased your boat from that dealer, and some guy that hadn't got his boat serviced before you and made you wait over the weekend?

That being said, I am a consumer too, I know the value of a dollar and no I would not pay 5K over what someone else has the same product listed for, all things being equal. But, how much more would you be willing to pay to stay local, and how much are they willing to take in order to keep you local. That's the $5000 question.

It shouldn't matter where you buy your boat as far as service goes.

If I buy my boat from another dealer but book it in for service with the local dealer on lets say wednesday and the guy that bought his boat from the local dealer has his booked in for thursday I should get my boat back before him regardless of where either boat was purchased.

If your local dealer is playing games with service than I would contact Tige or make a drive to a compitant dealer that values my business.

Completely understand your point of view. As of now, it's completely in the air, so I am still trying to work things out. Appreciate all the help and input from everyone.

Just my 2 cents as another dealer, we will service any boat bought out of are territory but will not do warranty work on any boat bought out of our territory , that work has to be covered by selling dealer.

            ktm,

Best of luck to you. Whichever boat you decide to purchase you'll be getting one fine piece of craftsmanship, and your summer will be way to short.

Dom is that a Policy approved by Tige? I live in Minnesota and I have considered moving to Florida. I have a 13 that has 3 years of service and maintenance. So your telling me if I moved my warranty should not be honored by a dealer in Florida and i should drive the 1450 miles to have warranty work done where I bought the boat.

I know dealers don't like getting boats shoved in their faces that were bought out of territory, but to say your dealership won't honor the manufactorers warranty is pretty crazy. With a few phone calls to the right people I would be will to bet your policy would change. Market is to competitive to intentionally be making buyers/owners angry.

I bought a car when I lived in Florida and the dealer here has no problem doing warranty work. Guess what? They get paid the same warranty money as the selling dealer would have. I know dealers don't make money on warranty, actually lose money alot of time. But it's part of the business.

If they are pcm certfied and not a tige dealer they will not do the 3 yr free service work that tige offers. Has to be a tige dealer that is pcm certified. My dealer is 2 hrs away local nautique/mastercraft dealer that is pcm certifed for the nautiques will not conduct the tige 3 yr service work. With that said having your boat serviced where you bought is always easier and good dealers move you to the head of the line over boats they did not sell. When we had our SeaRay 1st thing they asked when you called for service was did you buy it here. I am also warry of going to local nautique dealer becasue we looked at their product before going with the tige and I do not care for them. Should they give me solid service-yes will they - never know. Also we looked at a different nautique dealer 2 hrs away and when we told them where we lived they told us nautiques would not allow them to sell us a new boat because there was a delaer in our area. We were told the manufactuere does this to protect dealers. Sucks having your boat at the shop and not in the water!!

Right on. Thats why I question a Tige dealer not being PCM certified. Thats one of their big selling points is the maintenance(we love it on our VW's) and if the dealer can't honor it thats an issue. But I would think any certified PCM dealer should be able to honor the engine warranty.

Like I said above I'd be on the phone till I got it solved. I bought one of Bayliners "ski" boats(ski Challenger) years ago and it was a turd. After it broke for about the 5th time the dealer didn't want to fix it anymore, that was about 3 weeks after purchase. I ended up spending days on the phone till I finally got to the VP of dealer service for US marine(parent company), guy named Don Young. He finally got it taken care of. The dealer ended up being told to leave the boat alone and with this and a few other things lost their selling rights to the brand. US Marine took the boat to their factory over the winter and made it right. They also covered my payments until I was able to use it and satisfied. Thats why I don't talk crap about bayliner, because for me they stepped up and made it right.

Point being, squeaky wheel gets the grease. If things aren't what you think they should be go to the dealer and ask to see the general manager or owner. If that doesn't get it done don't be afraid to call the manufacturer. Market is to tight for them not to care. I can tell you first hand they do care, they just might not know. If I bought a new boat and couldn't get warranty because of a dealers choice(to not have a PCM tech) I wouldn't stop calling till I got to Charlie Pigeon himself, if thats what it took. I'm not talking because your wake isn't as big as the dealer promised, but not being able to get the warranty you were promised..thats crazy.

                      boardman,

In that case, you would have your dealer in your new location contact Tige and have them transfer warranty coverage to your new dealer.

Tige protects territories and dealers by having you assigned to the dealer you purchased your boat from for warranty work. Of course there are always considerations made extenuating circumstances. PCM authorizes engine work. Tige authorizes work done to the boat.

So is that Tige's policy that all warranty work has to be done by the selling dealer? What dealership do you work for? What happens if I move?

Territories yes, what I don't know is the language in the contracts that allows us to display our boats at the show. Maybe because there are a lot of folks who boat outside the Twin Cities i.e. Green Lake, or Minnewaska that prefer to purchase from dealers and have their boat serviced near the lakes they boat on. I guess I don't know that for sure.

Ktm, where in WI are you located?
I have a 2008 RZ2 that is set up for surfing that I would sell. I am located in the Wausau area and the boat is currently located in Tomahawk.

Plus our dealer in Tomahawk, WI is really good and he sold a lot of Tiges last year. This summer we are going to put on a surfing event with him. Tige is sending up a pro surfer or two for the event.

Contact me if you are interested.

Maybe you guys are getting MUCH better deals than I am (doubtful after looking online) but that 2012 RZ2 ebay listing is a damn good price IMO . Jump on www.onlyinboards.com and check the prices for Tiges. Here are just a few examples. Oh and those clamping board racks cost the better part of $4,000 it is one of the single most expensive upgrades after the engines. Add in that it already has a custom surf ballast set up and I would offer them 60k and work from there.
