How cold is too cold?

Went out today and the water was 54.
This is the coldest I have ever seen our lake and after one run I was done.
So it got me thinking, on what is the coldest other wakeboard in.

Lancehon was just out the other day in 40 degree.

54 is spring and fall water temps for Colorado sometimes even summer. That would be the same for Utah and Wyoming as well.

My lowest official was 53 at Tahoe. Late May I think. I have been out in Feb to Lahontan and air temp was 55 and the water was definitely colder.

Way to get out and get some, man. I've been jonesing for a ride lately. Rock on.

Lowest we rode was 35 degree water 65-70 degree air, wetsuited it! We usually get the boat in the week the ice goes out.

38 DEGREE =) FULL DRY SUIT Dont enjoy it but it adds to our short season.

Rode New Years day air temp was a balmy 72* and water was a cold 58*. But with a spring suit no problem after that first dip.

Dry suit solves most worries.

I have been in 42 degree water and 42 degree air. That was miserable, because then the small parts get too cold. That means the fingers, toes and nose. When the air is 60 degrees, it is much easier. It just adds another layer of complexity and preparation when the air is that cold.

I am currently looking for some 2mm neoprene booties if anyone knows which ones are best, I would like to have them.

We've boarded here in Jan when both the air and water temps where in the low 50's. We wore shorties.
We rafted the Mendenhall River one year in Alaska. Water was low 40's and air was mid 50's if I recall. We wore a gore-tex rain suite over street cloths. Stay dry, stay warm. On our last trip we snorkeled in the bay. They made us where 5mm wet suites and I thought I was going to die from heat exhaustion. I had to finally open the back to let in fresh cold water. They said the water was about 55, I thought it felt good.

Hope to surf Mead this weekend. Air looks to be in the mid 50's and water in the 50's.

I have some Nevin booties. I actually haven't worn them in a few years but, I have worn them on several occasions. They are awsome. Anything Nevin is good stuff. I also have Nevin 3mm gloves and a hood.

I did 72f air, 53f water, that was cold enough for me. Shorts and life jacket only.

Same as most. Been in couple days after the ice went out. Water in the high 30's and air in the 60's. With a wetsuit it about knocks the wind out of you when you hit the water.

Usually get a day in just after ice out as long as we get a decent sunny 60 degree day, water temps in the upper 30's to 40. That gets the jonesin for a ride out of the way and I wait a few weeks for warmer water. Using a wetsuit and braving the temps we can ride starting in May and finishing in October.
