    22ve Speedometer inoperable (help)

Hello, I'm hoping to gain a little insight on where to start with a inoperable speedometer on a 2008 22ve.

Rig was purchased new March 2009 and now has 111 hours registered on the meter.

Mainly used for recreational riding, tubing, and wake surfing. Boat has been meticulously maintained and cared for.
I'm a little discouraged that I'm experiencing mechanical problems this soon.

My 3 year drivetrain warranty expired 9 months ago, so I'm on my own on this one.

Paddle wheel has no visible signs of damage or wear and spins freely.

No gauge reading and speedset does not function at all.

Any guidance or assistance where to start and what to test will be appreciated.

Trace the wires coming from the paddle wheel to the dash and check for any loose or broken connections in the line. Apparently there's a connector that sometimes gets in the bilge water and corrodes. If that's the case, just clip and use waterproof butt splice connectors (heat shrink type by anchor marine) and reconnect. After that, check that the gauge is getting power and the paddle wheel signal wire is sending its information to the gauge (resistance readings at the gauge connection).
Fixing everyone elses boat just so I can use mine...

I'll take a look at the inline connections, thank you.

Any idea of what the paddle wheel should ohm?

If you search there are some threads that show some tricks, I will see what I can find. Its seems that most end up having to be replaced and unfortunately not a cheap one and they want the old unit back.

The other thing to consider, check out, is the tri ducer

Its been awhile since Ive worked on a 2008 , but you will have medellion guages , they should be plug and play which means the plug on the tach is the same as the speedo, you can switch the tach plug over to the speedo and start the engine if the speedo moves up and down with engine speed the guage is good, next would be the triducer, you can also do a guage test by accessing the set up screen with your tige cruise pannel by scrolling the up down arrows to the service mode and putting the guages through a sweep , again if the guages perform correctly its probally going to be the triducer or connection.

Thanks fellas, definitely some starting points.

Dom - I believe you sold an 07 ve to my best friend in Tarpon Springs. (Dave Fusaro) He's always complimenting your excellent customer service and pricing.

                    I appreciate all the input.

I have a 2008 22ve as well, the speedometer went out two years ago, had it replaced for the price of my left arm and leg, no signs of issues at the paddle wheel, after that it worked for about a year, went out again.

I did some research, bought this http://nauticLaugic.com/

Took me about 30 minutes to install, I could probably install it in around 5 minutes now, best thing ever, cruise control works so much better. Very quick on time and gps lock time, never even was close to an issue.

                      I would buy this instead.

This is a true do it yourself project, even for people who don't know the difference between a phillips and a flathead.
The worst day of boating is still the better than the best day of work......, unless you bend your prop.

If the guage is bad you should be able to pack up, ship it to medellion for a repair fee , thats what we use to do.
Back then it was about 50.00 plus shipping I dont know if thats still available.
