Also got started on the PP install. I wanted to keep my factory speedo so I mounted the gauge to the lower dash panel. For some reason the stereo remote was mounted dead center in the panel so I had to do some modifications to make it work and then cover it with the vinyl wrap. I am doing the vinyl wrap on all of the plastic dash panels because the factory finish is all worn off and looks pretty bad plus the vinyl was cheap so if it doesnt look good or last I can always do something different.

Thanks for the pic of the cushion. I have been contemplating making one for a while now. I might also make it so the cupholders are still usable if I do it. You could fill in the gauge panel with fiberglass and sand it smooth. The bondo brand jelly works well because its thicker and easier to work with. Then wrap with your vinyl. Just a thought.

Custom step: price is what it is, I have over 2K invested in the first two steps I made in the following catagories-design, materials, fasteners, powder coating and Sea Dek. So one might say that $450 is less than 50% off. I believe you guys are missing the boat so to speak, what is the cost of one blown out knee or broken arm? I only have one and once it is gone I will not make any more unless there is 5 people who pre pay for them at one time. They are great to set on while you put your board on or it also work well for putting your beer on while you are in the water floating. I will stop by the boat later today and take a picture of it mounted on my boat with the Sea Dek material on it.

Well my perfect pass install hit a snag over the weekend. I mounted the gauge and went to start working on the mechanical stuff and it looks like I need a drive by wire system instead of the mechanical version. I have an email out to PerfectPass so hopefully it will be just a matter of shipping it back and exchanging it.
In the mean time I have covered all but the main dash panels with the silver carbon fiber vinyl. I think the main panel is going to be a pain to remove and reinstall so I will probably live with it like this for a few months to see how the vinyl holds up before I decide to tackle the main panel. Before and after pics...

In 03, Tige would have been using either PCM or Merc engines and neither had DBW. It wasnt until Marine Power went DBW in 06. And at that point, Tige developed their in-house Accu-Set because PP didnt have DBW integration and I do not know if they even do now.
I would love to see a pic of your engine and of the t/body.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

The motor is newer than the boat. The dealership I bought it from did not have the paper work (it was on consignment) so I dont know the exact date but I think the engine is only about 2 years old. I assumed it was a direct replacement with the same motor as it originally had but based on your info I guess that might not be the case. I was told it was a 6L 380hp and after doing some research I decided it is the 6L Marine Power with a closed cooling system. I didnt realize it was dbw though. This is what I found when I went to do the install. Looks to me like the throttle cable mounted to some custom bracket with a throttle position sensor.Attached FilesLast edited by cpropes2005; 01-02-2013, 04:55 PM.

Thanks Bryce, I got the vinyle off of Amazon. There are a ton of different options for vinyl but this is the stuff I used and seemed to work pretty well. Time will tell how ell it holds up.

It is really easy to work with. Just peel and stick and then use a heat gun to warm up the edges so it can be stretched smooth over the countered surfaces. The hardest part of the hole process is getting all of the switches/gauges disconnected to actually be able to remove the panels.

I havent had any problem with visibility on the PP gauge in that location. It helps that it is offset a little to the right because it isnt obstructed by the steering wheel. To see my stereao remote on the left side I have to move my head a little bit but it still isnt an issue for me. I thought about replacing the speedo with the PP gauge but it doesnt match my stock gauges so I thought it would look funny so I decided to mount it down low.
Install was pretty easy. I had to figure out a unique way to mount the servo motor since my boat was converted to drive by wire but that shouldnt be an issue for most. This is the 2nd PP install I have done and I will say that the Stargazer system is much easier to install just because there is no large diameter hole to drill in the bottom of the boat. Install on stargazer basically just consists of mounting the servo motor, gauge, gps puck and control unit and then plugging them all in to the correct ports. For the gauge mount I just took the plastic panel piece off and used a jig saw to cut the hole.
