    Wetsuit

Taking a poll on the best full body wetsuit for the best price? Looking to stay less than $150 and for Texas lakes ... Water temperatures in the 70's so it doesn't have to be real thick ... maybe 2/3?

Just to be clear you want a wet suit for water in the 70s??????????? 2/3 should be PLENTY. Our lakes only usually get to the upper 70s. We usually wet suit it in 50 to mid 60 degree water then it is heater shirt until the water hits 70 then we just wear a life vest. Man I miss the lake temps in the south!

Visit www.nrsweb.com. They are a whitewater outfit with a huge variety of wetsuits in all styles and fabric weights. Very reputable, very helpful, great outfit. My wife searched and searched, then quickly found a wetsuit there that has made her very happy.

2/3 will be too much for 70, you will end up sweating to death. Our lake only gets above 70 for about 2 weeks a year I would say 2mm or even thinner if you can find it. Get a true surf brand suit. I have two oneil psychos and they rock. Super flexy and fit great. Barely tell you are wearing a suit.

If thin and flexible is what you want, NRS has a Hydroskin shorty in 0.5mm neoprene:

Here's their page on the 0.5mm material itself:

No affiliation, just been buying from NRS for over 20 years and loving every purchase.

Trust me on buying a true surf wetsuit. I have tried so many. Some designed for rafting, some for wakeboarding and when I finally tried a suit designed to stretch where a surfer needs it, it was a game changer. I will never go back.

PS 70s is crazy warm What about a shorty, or a 1.5mm rash guard? We rock those at night or earlier in the summer.

as a fellow texas rider i have to say that at 70 degrees you dont need or have any use for a wetsuit. it will just be more hassle and that is warm water. water in west texas gets to about 45 degrees in late january and early feb and that is when i start the season up. so if youre looking for a 50 degree water suit i can help but we shed suits at 70 for sure.

Get an hyperfreak 1.5mm rash guard from oneill. It's awesome. Keeps your core warm and has great flex. I own two.

A heater top is all you need for riding in our local DFW lakes. I usually wear mine in March through April. Then again in October, sometimes November. I tend to wear mine longer in the Spring months. In the fall/winter it gets cold quick and with the lack of sun/heat that doesn't help.

If you want to ride longer get a dry suit, don't mess around with being cold and wet.

The new wetsuits are amazing. The are called drylock and you don't "feel" wet. I will put my oneil 4/3 psycho II against any drysuit for cold water. Way better movement and you truly feel dry. I know lots of other high end surf suits have the same basic technology. I sound like a broken record!

x2 on what Duffy is recommending. I have been surfing for many many years and I have always used Ripcurl and O'neill suits in the ocean and yes the O'neill psycho suits rock I have one as well. They will be much more comfortable to wear especially if you are not used to wearing one.

When I was living in Del Rio I bought a full 3/2 suit for the winter, Lake Amistad gets down to 58 in the winter and I wear that wetsuit anytime the water is below 65 and the air temp is below 60 and it works great. Now that I'm in WA it's really worked out for me.

I bought me wetsuit from a surf shop in Galveston that had a pretty big selection. All the manufacturers fit a little different and I recommend trying a few on to see how they fit you.

Water in the 70s in the winter. Where? I am coming your way. I will bring my wetsuit for you. I wont need it. If it is truely 70 then a shorty should work but if it is colder outsidethen a 2/3 would be nice but no thicker. I use a 4/5 in the true cold here and it is too much when the lake gets in the 60s.
