i like the idea of new so you can custom order your colors

stay away from the 303, the 343 is a monster. i was told the 409 is overkill on the rzr because you get on plane before you hit the torque curve or something?

When you said the 409 in the RZR was an option I couldn't believe it so I looked it up and the fact they offer the ZR409 in a 20 foot boat is shocking hold on tight for that rocket ship, no I could definitely see it needing a new prop although not entirely sure what one they'd ship that with interesting.

Yea I know! My father was considering going for it because we wouldve gotten the raptor in an a20, but the rep highly discouraged him because of th reason I gave above.. The way it's propped with the 343 is almost scary. Even with 3k worth of ballast, gas, people, ad equipment, it wants to jerk your arms of its sockets and that's when there's already tension on the line. In the right conditions I've seen 47.2mph flash up and down with a 1631(which is how it shipped) which is a 1237's baby brother I believe

Anyways rzr is a great boat. Stellar wake for a 20 footer, peobably a close second to an a 20. although it can be a bit finicky with weight. Super easy to get a kickin surf wave thought. Can't go wrong! Also you can comfortably seat about 6-8 people before things get cramped

Just an fyi the brand new redesigned Z1 has an MSRP of $1500 less than the RZR. Seeing as how they designed it to be a mini Z3 it should throw an incredible surf wave. Might be worth looking into. Also you might want to wait until your local boat show is happening. There are usually really good incentives to order at the boat show.

That is a good point. I'll have to look into that.

Also, Jreis, why do you say stay away from the 303? Is it a bad motor? I don't need the boat to have any insane amount of power. Just be able to surf and wakeboard comfortably.

More power = less strain on components. I'm a big fan of more power. Will the 303 push it around? Sure. Would a 343 push it around easier? Yup. Boat motors are pretty tough by nature and just about any powerplant they put in will get the job done. It's more a question of how you feel about more power.

The Z1 is priced with the RZR? No question Z1. That shape is state of the art. I'm really anxious to see the surf wake. Looking at the hull shape, it should be full tilt pimp.

I just tend to run a crap ton of weight so the 303 I fear would limp the boat on plane. I'd rather have more power than less and I can echo nickypoo on the strain. Yes te z1 should be sick but Remeber both these hulls are relatively new so id imagine you're a start of the art hull either way

X2, if you have no issues with storing the 21'6" boat the Z1 should throw a better wake. I haven't seen it yet though.

Hmm, maybe I'll have to look into the Z1. The boat shows starts the 18th of January in Milwaukee, so I will be heading there to take a look. You make a good point about the 303 causing more strain. I think I would feel more comfortable with the 343. Is there a big power difference between the two? How does gas consumption compare?

The more powerful motors are generally much better on fuel economy because, you don't have to run it so hard to do the same job. Eventually, the bigger motor will pay for itself.

                        RZR

We love our 2012RZR. Fantastic surf! Just play with the ballast depending on the number of people in the boat. Wakeboarding is just as enjoyable for my 220 lb body!

In a boat gas consumption is variable. The 343 does pretty well. If your run a lot of weight on a small motor gas consumption will go up. If your motor is too big for how much weight, fuel consumption could suffer. It's the 420 ft lbs that the 343 puts out makes the difference

That looks like a great surf wave. Thanks everyone for the input, I'll keep all posted! Hopefully posting a picture of a new Tige in the driveway by spring time!

I believe this absolutely. If you are just gently cruising with no ballast, then the smaller motor will be more efficient. But load them up, and gas consumption equalizes, but the power doesn't.

I think whether it is true or not, the 303 gets a bad rap. So you will make it back up on resale, even if that is in 10 years.
