    Tige RZR, RZ2, or...

    Hey guys,

Looking into purchasing a boat sometime this winter before spring time. I have been looking into boats for a long time now and am very interested in the RZR. I am looking to spend around 60K and have been able to find some nice 2011/2012 RZR's with low hours around that price.

I am a very average wakeboarder and am a lot more into wakesurfing. My only wakesurfing experience is behind my friends 2012 Super Air Nautique 210. I want a boat that puts out a nice surf wave, because that will be the primary use, with some moderate wakeboarding.

Is the RZR the right choice or should I be looking at an older RZ2 or maybe even a Z1?

Any input is appreciated, thanks in advance!

All 3 models will make great surf and wake-board boats as well as nice all around family boats. Far superior surf wake then the CC 210. For a 60K budget, You should be able to come away with a new RZR or Z1. A little more and you may be in a new RZ2. Just keep in mind that market, time of year, options, etc, will have some effect on that.

All three of those would work great. You can look up Allan Kendall, aka Squids, he has an R20 that has a great surf wave. Iwndr has a Z1 that has a great surf wave. I know there are several with RZ2's with great waves, Timmy!, Robert Theisen.

They all make a good wakeboarding wake as well.

My buddy has a '06 210, the surf wave doesn't even compare to the wave that mine puts out. The Ve should be the same hull as the RZ2.

It probably has a better wakeboarding wake though. Mine is not shabby jsut different.

Appreciate all the quick responses. I'm assuming that the best time to buy is now (Winter)? Also, any specific options that you feel are a must? I am really wide open here and don't want to limit myself. Open to any suggestions or comments you may have.

Would you opt for buying a new RZR or Z1 over getting a slightly used RZ2? The size of the boat doesn't matter to me much, although I still have not seen them in person. I have always been around Nautique and Mastercraft.

We got an rzr this summer and love it. Great for surfing and wakeboarding. We have the surf ballast package. Lots of storage and space for a easy to trailer 20 footer. Parker boats in Orlando has a 2012 rzr that they were willing to let go for $57,000 a couple of months ago. Does not have racks - Samson racks are about $1200, and has the 303 engine. But worth looking into.

After owning a few Rz2's and Rz4's I'm an Rz guy and I've drove and worked with the R20 never the RzR should be relatively the same for hull size.. but the new z1's or even the older z1's are sick. The wakesurf and wakeboard wakes with a little bit of weight are super nice with for a 21 foot boat. I've definitely been impressed with both you can't go wrong with either. Where are you located by chance?

in the boating market, the best time to PURCHASE is the 1st quarter. that is when boat prices are at their lowest. As far as which model you probably need to have a look at each one. I have a 22 footer and sometimes wish for the 24... I know it is not always needed, but when you want the extra space it sure is nice to have.

personally my experience.. the best time to purchase is when somebody is looking to dump the boat in a rush. and you can get a killer deal. I try to never buy new.... ahah but my RZ4 & 2007 moomba was the exception.

new benefits... you know the history. no abuse ext.

used benefits. usually first or 2nd owner has eaten the depreciation, down side... you have no clue what abuse its seen. to me abuse includes.. missed fluid changes, proper winterization, impeller been eaten? ext... seen alot of pretty boats poorly maintained!

I am located in Wisconsin, right in between Madison and Milwaukee. I have been looking on Boat trader website to get pricing and seems I can't find a new RZR for 60K or less. Am I looking in the wrong place? Also, are the prices listed generally pretty negotiable? The RZR seems like it might be the fit. Is there a specific engine you would recommend or shy away from? I think I will definitely be going with the Surf package as well.

Call Francis at Skipperbuds in Palwaukee, he sold us our 2012 RZR this spring and we absolutely love it and he really took care of us.

Ours stickered for upper 70s and you would be very happy with the deal we received.

We have the 303 engine, I was a little hesitant at first being the smallest engine they offered, but it has plenty of power to wakeboard fully loaded with ballast and passengers. And I wouldn't think twice about buying another RZR with this same engine. And the surf wake is amazing!

Let me know if you have any questions,

Don't know if your mind is set on new or not. But here's an RZ2 you could fetch for low 60's.

Yeah I saw this, what a nice boat. I am not sure what the better route would be....new RZR or something like this RZ2?
