New owner 2000 Tige' 21i Riders Edition Question

    Hello!

I have never owned a Tige' before.. Always had Malibus. Anyway just picked up this boat and would like to know if anyone is familiar with the tower rack system? It looks likes like the boards go on top of the tower? I see hooks for some sort of straps however they are missing. Thinking about tower speakers so that setup may not work well. Anyone know the diameter of the tower poles for an add-on side rack system? I used a measuring tape and they seem to be about 2" but not sure. Thanks! Sean

Congrats on your Tige and welcome to the site. Post some pics of your boat as well as your tower.

I could be wrong but I believe your tower is a Metcraft. You can do some searching on here for Metcraft and and read about them.

          Thanks for the welcome!

It does not look like that tower. I just had the boat detailed and will post some pics tomorrow including some close ups of the tower.

            Congrats on the boat.

Is the tower not exactly like the one pictured but similar? No forks up top? No re-enforcement bars on the inside? What you're describing is the factory Metcraft tower for the 2000 model year. If so, you'll want to scrap it and get something else. They suck.

Tell us some more about the boat. Please. Also, if its not too much trouble, could you be sure to post a pic of the dash? It's kind of a hobby trying to track what dashes were used in what boats year to year. It's next to impossible. 2000 was a new dash year. Significant upgrade over its predecessor. 2000 was a good year all around. Good hulls, good builds, good vinyl, power upgrade to the 350mag to 315hp., dual ram Bennett tab, new platform brackets. They're good, solid, simple boats. All except that tower.

Welcome to the site. Were you a BuCrewer?
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

does it look more like this tower? If it does you can put the boards on top of the pads. There are straps that are screwed into the tower that hold the boards on.

Yep, thats a Metcraft! I would highly recommend replacing it, rather then buying racks, speakers and other accessories for it.

x2. But if you are not looking to change it out completly, your best bet is probably going to be buying some monster wakeboard racks and mounting them where ever you would like. They are good company, and easy to work with on orders/any issues you have.

BTW, congrats on your new Tige! Exterior of the gelcoat looks to be pretty nice.

Thanks I will take more photos this weekend of the interior and the requested shot of the cockpit.

What tower should I purchase as a direct bolt on replacement that utilizes the same holes, etc. I'd like to get a bimini, tower speakers and board rack (wakboard and wake surf). If the Metcraft is not good then I would rather purchase the whole tower and accessories together from a company and have someone install it. I'm in Atlanta, GA. The closest Tige' dealer is in SC.

Also, any idea where I can purchase the following?

                      1. Dry box (glove box on left side) cover. It has been broken off.

                      2. Open bow snap in carpet (black)

                      3. Straps for the Metcraft tower board rack (in case I decide to keep it for now!)

                      4. Tige' decals (2) one for each side in the back of the boat.

                      5. New rub strip - whole boat. One side is in bad shape but I'd rather replace the whole thing. I'm thinking any boat shop can do this.

                      Thanks!

                        1. Most including myself just fix the broken glove box lid. If you can find it, and some have I think they said they were $200+
                        2. Carpet you will probably have to have made for it.
                        3. The straps are nothing more than a 1" webbing with a plastic snap buckle. You can get those in most camping departments or west marine carrys them http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...classNum=50760
They are just cut in half and screwed into the top of the tower board width apart.
                        4. Some people have custom decals made. Tige might still have some left over for it.
                        5. Boat shop or west carries lot of that stuff, just have to match it up to right style of rubber

                          Thanks

Well finally got her on the water. Here are the photos.

Just need to replace the dry box lid, put on a new rub strip and (eventually) put on the new tower. Added a new Kenwood Marine head unit with a remote control at the driver's console and the rear deck. New Polk Marine speakers, full detail, respray of the Metcraft tower, refurbished the teak deck, full tune. Added gold 18" Tige' sticker at the stern on both sides and a small gold 11" Tige' sticker to the stern above the deck. The speedo does not work and the TAPS system is also not working so have to investigate both. Runs great!! It will be dry stacked at the marina not trailered.

P.S. Yes! That is a rag stuff into the gas filler. The gas attendant (my wife LOL) dropped the cap and it was not secured to the chain. It has been replaced with a new gas cap.
