    Remove rzr swim platform

I am wondering how hard it should be to remove/attach swim platform on 2012 rzr. We have to take it off to store in garage and so far it has been a nightmare. Ruined the spacers on bolts and had to replace.

Isn't it just 2 pins that come out and you slide it out? Beautiful boat by the way!

The brackets have a bolt on top and bottom that is held in with spacers. These stay in place. There is a center bolt that you remove (need a wrench - its not just a pin)and then you have to pull up and out. If you have any play it binds making it a two person job. I was wondering if anyone had an easier way so it can be one person job.

We have an RZ2 but you just remove the 2 center pins and it comes right off. I have done it in the water. You don't need any tools at all. Now if you are wanting to take the brackets off that the swim platform attaches to that is a whole different beast.

I will take some pics whne i get home tonight. Our "center pin" is a hex bolt - I would love to have a pin

Oh yeah, I think I have seen that before, it has a nylock nut on the bolt too if I remember correctly.

My RZR has two pins, remove them and it lifts right off. It is heavy and awkward so two people is probably best.

My boat also has a place to insert bolts on each side to attach the swim platform to the mounts, I added the bolts to cut down on the platform rattling when at idle, but these might have been installed on your boat before you received it.

I found a better pic of the one I posted above and that one is actually a straight slot screw. I took these pics at the 2011 WWS Tige Reunion and this boat was the first 2012 off of the line so maybe they made adjustments along the way.

you may need to loosen the set screws on bottom a bit... as for the pins, just take your bolts to home depot/lowes etc and get yourself the right size *stainless* pins.

Those pics are exactly wahte we have. The nylock spacers break so easy. I have to remove the center bolt and loosen the 4 others to get it off. With a pin is platform gonna move up and down? Right now ours is rigid when in and tightened.

You have a very early style of the new platform brackets.

There is a recall for the spacers. Contact your local dealer. They will get you the correct allen bolts and bushing nuts. You will remove the top and bottom bolts and nuts and replace them with the new allens and bushing nuts. here is the 2013 style.

Here is the old nut and bolt with spacers and the new allen and bushing nut with no spacer.

Also since you are taking the platform on and off so often I would recommend you get the new style with the quick release pins. There is no recall for these but I am sure your dealer will hook you up. Then you can leave the center allens out and just go with the pins. The center allen is only there on the 2013 style to keep the platform form rattling. On yours it is there to keep it from rattling and to keep the platform from coming off.

                          hope this helps.

Good information 91Terminator and thanks for helping out.

This brings up a question, if it is a recall why wouldn't the dealer(s) notify the boat owners?

Follow up question would be do the recalls only apply to original owners?
