Depth gauge problem

Another question... Hopefully one day I can contribute instead of always asking question.... Anyway.. Took the boat out today for one last drive. Came up on a patch of weed bed area and slowed way down to get through it.. Strange but oh well. The depth read 3.3 feet and once I got out of it it stayed at that dept h all the way back to the slip. Turned it off and back on, looked under the boat and no weeds caught on anything. Any thoughts what the problem might be ?

I had basically the exact same problem on ours at Lake Powell. Only we got in super deep water and it quit flashing and just stayed at 3.3' deep. Drove me crazy!!! After the boat was off for a while it went back to normal.
