We are mostly into wake boarding, but we would have done more surfing in the RZ2, if we didnt need at least 5 people in the boat everytime...
Takes only 10 minutes to fix that problem as the RZ2 is one of the easiest boats to weight. If you get a new Z3 and surf with only factory ballast, you will probably still need those 5 extra people.

I completely disagree with that statement.

I saw a G23 at the Tampa boat show last weekend. I spent about an hour going throught the boat with the rep. I didnt care for the looks on the outside at all. I did find the layout inside nice. I have not been out on the G23 so I cant comment on the wakes. I am a Tige guy so yes I love the Z3. I have been out on the Z3 and it makes legit wakes both wake and surf with stock ballast. WB w/ stock 2000# was huge. The surf wake is well documented and I am sure your aware of this. Like eveyone said test drive them both and see what you like. The price difference at the Tampa boat show Z3 25k cheaper @ 90K-115k.

Disagree away! Wake quality is subjective.

Yep. I have personally surfed behind 3 different Z3's, all with factory ballast (1 with pro, 2 with surf), and it has been the best surf wave I have been on with and without extra people. See my Z3 thread for pics without extra people weight. Does it swell up and make a bigger wave with more weight, yes but it is not a requirement.

Add in 65 gallons of fuel and some gear and you are over 6,000 lbs without the trailer. It doesn't have a choice but to throw a big wakeboarding wake with that much mass. What level of wakeboarders are in your family? I know that a giant wakeboarding wake can be VERY intimidating for some so keep that in mind. I've never been on the G23, only seen the pictures and videos of it. I wrote up a review on the Z3 on here somewhere.

I agree with those above, demo them both! That's a lot of money to put out without a test drive of the different boats in this size class.
You forgot about the wetsounds subs, tower speakers, inboat speakers and the amps. This should add in an extra 700lbs at least.

You make it sounds as if i stated that the Z3 is completely unsurfable unless its sunk to the bottom of the lake with ballast.

After being called out in another thread for spreading misinformation, please disregard my above post that you may find that the Z3 likes a little more then stock ballast. I guess Tige has gone back to their roots and truly dont need ballast.

All I'm saying is that you can take your wife and kid out and boost some big air's with the factory ballast if you want to leave your 3 friends at home.
