    New Wet Sounds Sinister Amps!

I placed an order for a SD2, SD4 and SD6 as soon as I heard about the new Wet Sounds Sinister amps back at the beginning of the summer. I loved everything I saw and heard about them and the new MAXED power supply at the time. Looking over the specs, I realized that I could reduce my current system from 6 amps (4 JL MHD750/1, HD1200/1 and M200/2) down to 3 and almost have the same amount of power but with a lot less current draw.

A handful of the SD6's (6 x 185 @ 4ohms, 6 x 290 @ 2ohms or 3 x 585 bridged @ 4ohms) came in yesterday and mine was one of them. A couple of the SD2's and SD4's will be in next week and hopefully mine will be a part of that initial small shipment.

I hope to find the time to get them installed next week. Once I do, I will report back as to how they perform and will post some more pics. I held off building a nice amp rack once I found out about these amps, so once I get them in, that will be next on the list.

The amp is fairly heavy and looks to be really well built and very clean and slick looking. Here are a couple pics of the SD6:

I hope I get one of those SD-2 as well. We've had a 4 REV-10 install on hold since June

After looking the specs over a little closer, I made a design change which will net some HUGE power increases. I'm going with 2 SD6's to power the in boats and the tower. I'll keep a SD2 on the XXXV2 and a Syn Micro on the bow speakers.

      SD6 #1
      CH1-2 - Left Outside Rev10, 585W @ 4ohm Mono
      CH3-4 - Left Inside Rev10, 585W @ 4ohm Mono
      CH5-6 - Left In Boat Speakers (4 JL 7.7" components), 585W @ 4ohm Mono

      SD6 #2
      CH1-2 - Right Outside Rev10, 585W @ 4ohm Mono
      CH3-4 - Right Inside Rev10, 585W @ 4ohm Mono
      CH5-6 - Right In Boat Speakers (4 JL 7.7" components), 585W @ 4ohm Mono

That nets 2340W to the tower and 1170W to the in boats!

        That's a lot of power! You better get a 2nd sub...or 2!

I have 1600w going to my tower (4 Rev 10s same as Houston) and it is obnoxiously loud. If the Revs could handle an extra 100w a piece (probably) I can only imagine the sound. I know Houston has stated a big reason for doing this is running his amps at less than 100% capacity and thus being more efficient overall. If you actually got the 2340w to the tower and didn't blow anything it just might make someones ears bleed.

Hmm. I could add another XXXV2 under the observer's helm. The spot where it would go is right where I have lead bags placed to balance out the weight of the starboard side XXXV2. It wouldn't be a big deal to do it but I just don't know if it will help without a good way to get the bass out.

It would work well as a back massager though!

Vent it into the walkway. I'm sure your buddy could make a bad azz cover or surround for the vent!

Finally!!! Gotta get me a SD6.

Great job Tim for getting into the high end market.

Honestly, what would boating be like without wet sounds?

Houston here is a pic of a buddies rzr that we fired the subs down and vented them out through the walkway. One of the loudest bass systems I have heard and he only has 2 12 inch rockford fosgate p3s.

                          The pictures have me confused.

The second pic with the wetsounds badge is the top, right?

The 4th pic with no designs or badges is the bottom right?

So then what side is that with all the crossover settings and such?

EDIT: That appears to be a cover with the badge on it, got it! Ooh!!!! When my current amps need upgrading, I was thinking of considering Kicker amps because the two I have are the easiest to tune in the world because the settings are right on top of the amp. Finally someone understands what a PIA it is to crawl in an amp compartment once an amp is already installed and try to find the gain knob and crossover knobs. It seems that once I think it sounds right in the garage, I have to change it once I get to the lake, or when I get a new HU, etc. Wetsounds deserves much love for this feature alone!!!!!

I know a guy who stepped up his 300 Watts to 400 Watts on his REV 10's and frankly he wasn't impressed that there was any real volume increase. So I am pretty confident that the only gain in sound with going to 585 watts would be the chance to blow the speakers completely. There are other benefits for sure, but I am betting sound volume and quality is not going to be one of them. They better be tuned right, or they will blow. WS overbuilds stuff no doubt, but they did assign 300 Watts RMS for a reason.

                            Tune well, my friend.
