I had a problem the other day where my winch went bad. After talking to Extreme trailers, I found out that they do not recommend that you use the winch to hold down the boat to the trailer. I was told that the winch is only to be used to get the boat on the trailer.
After the boat is on the trailer you need to tie it down to the transom and the bow eye, and then relive some of the pressure off of the winch. (Back it off about two clicks).
The Transom straps should prevent the boat from sliding back.
I was wondering what other people are using to tie down the bow eye?
By the way, Extreme gave me a new winch at no cost!
Thanks for any feed back
