    2008 Tige Z1 or Sanger V215

Got 2 boats I'm heading to look at later this week. Just want to find out some opinions, as its a 7 hour drive to check them out.

Coming from a I/O and want a better boat. With a bit of guessing will likely be 40%-surf 40%-wakeboard and 20%-Slalom (give or take)

First boat is an '08 Z1 with 312hrs. It is a bare bones boat ie. no ballast, no bimini, no heater, E-series tower, minimal stereo. Even the cupholders are white plastic. Has the Tige cruise and Taps2. Ballast is the only thing I really want but can be easily remedied with manual fill bags. Boat is already on second owner who only bought it for this summer.
    Price negotiated to $34,000

Second boat is a 2008 Sanger V215 that only has 50hrs. A pretty loaded up boat with heater, ballast, wakeplate. No bimini also. Not fully negotiated but around $41,000

I like the Z1 but its a split boat between my dad and I and he likes boats with very minimal hours. I'm a little impartial as long as its been taken care of (a little hard to tell with used boats).

    Curious on your thoughts?

315 hrs is not a lot for a 4 year old tow boat. How many hours p/yr have you put on your current I/O?

For surfing, you would be adding supplementary ballast to the stock ballast any way, so I would consider it a plus that the boat is currently without factory ballast.

The Z1 builds one hell of a surf wake. The wake-board wake is pretty good also, it just likes a lot of bow weight.

    SS cup holders are cheap.

Stereo: I would also consider this a plus. You have an almost blank slate to build a system that fits your needs and budget. That boat is an easy boat to a 3rd pair of in-boats, a sub and some tower speakers.

The true test will be in the sea trial. Hopefully you will get to ride behind each.

The lake test is the issue. I'm in Canada and the lake time is done for the year. Both these boats have been winterized and in storage. Will have to take the word of the sellers that they run the way they should. I guess that's why you get a bit of a better deal heading into the winter up here.

The Z1 is a full on private sale but he says it runs great and had no issues. He gave me a video of his son wakesurfing behind it with 0 ballast... I know i would add ballast and found some good info on what I would run.

The Sanger is from a dealer that is trying to get out of selling boats. He said he'd stand behind it until next spring when it would hit the water.

How deep is the seating in the Z1? Are you sitting in it with your knees bent? I'm 6'1".

Tough to compare hours put a I/O vs a V-drive as lots of extra hours will be put on surfing. I would guess around 50-80hrs a year though for the new boat.

Basing alot of my decision off videos and other forum posts as to which boat to buy as I can't drive/ride it. I understand the Tige forum may be a little biased... but again just looking for feedback.
      Thanks for your time!

On the Z1 I would find out who winterized it. If it was the seller will he stand be hind it if it was not done correctly?

I know you are in Canada but for the price of the Sanger I think I would search a little more and you may come up with a better deal on a Tige' with more options. You will beable to sit in both boats to see how the seating is. For the difference in price you could sure add a lot of options and upgrade quite a few things. Just my

I can't wait to see both these boats in person. As far as a better Tige for the price.... this boat is really cheap for our area!
We could get a 2006 22ve with similar hours for around $40k also. But I'm a little partial to the newer Tige styling.

Do the older 22ve's use the Convex hulls... would it be an upgrade over the Z1. Not talking about water temp gauge and other knick nacks. Really just want the best wakes and boat I can get. All the small extras can be added after if we feel they are needed.

I do like the fast filling of the Sanger's hard tank ballast. 1000 lbs in about 2 minutes! How long would it take to fill ballast bags? I have no experience in this. Is there a bag that would be able to fit in the bow of the Z1 (not the walkway)? I've done some searching but not sure how the setup under the seats looks like when the factory tank isn't installed.

I run a Factory 400 under the bow seats and 1250#custom in the port rear. I know nothing of Sanger wakes but the Z1 will give you a very nice surf wake and a respectable Wakeboard wake.
I have posted up some pics in another thread, I'll look for them

Is that Z1 from Stateamind? It's a long way from home if so

Yes, it has the convex hull. You will get more room with the Ve. Similar to the Z1 there are many happy Ve owners on here. It will put out a nice surf and boarding wake.

Why does the Sanger only have 50 hours. The quality of that boat depends on how well it was winterized or stored. If they did a poor job winterizing and it sat for so long then I would expect problems when you start to use it like a normal person. I'm a weekend warrior and I put 65 hours on my boat so far this year, and I'm still going.

I seen your pics while trolling these forums and your surf wave seems legit Can you add the factory ballast tanks after the fact? Isn't it a hard tank up front from the factory? Its the only one I'm worried about as the back corners are easy to set-up with bags.
Seems like you need to hit the throttle a little on the wakeboard pic to hit the sweet spot and narrow up that wave a bit!

I was also a little leary of this. Guy says he sold this boat to 'Bob' for lack of a better term. Bob used it very little and always had him service it. Bob then ran into a little money and traded it in for a Sanger V237..... I wish I had Bob's money!

I am definitely leaning towards the Z1. I think it will sit higher up in the water and our lake tends to be a little rough sometimes
I have heard of a couple porpoising issues on the 2008's, anyone here have that problem?
And lastly, just out of curiosity how much fuel do people use on an average day? (say hours used/cost to fill/activities)

I believe the fronts are all sacs. You can get sacs and put in them if they are not there. Some find that weight is not necessary up front. Everyone's experience is a little different. Some of it may depend on what you like. I believe the porpoising is dependent on ballast, taps, and speed.

I may have missed it, what engine does the Z1 have? I have the 340hp in the 22Ve and I am around 3-4 gph. That is typically loaded with ballast and I have the 1235 prop.

I thought that it was better to have a wider wake. Anyone can jump a couple of feet. I could be wrong but even bumping up the speed from 19 to 22 the wake is not going to get narrower just cleaner.

This boat also has the 5.7l 340hp.
Wide is good unless you suck like me I heard this boat will make me 100x better though!

Seriously though... what is a good line length behind this boat? I read somewhere (looked at alot of info!) that 75ft is pretty long for this boat as its a wide wake. Guess alot depends on ability but....

75 feet is fine but they are going way to slow for that long of a rope. They need to go at least 22mph with a 75 foot rope.
