I, like many other people wanted speakers on the tower that the rider could hear. I started out with DIY car audio stuff, then progressed into making my hlcd system. I am looking at possibly starting to make a few sets and trying to sell them and wanted to know if there would be any interest.
The speakers include 2- 6.5" mid bass drivers, and 2 - 1" hlcd's. I also use professional audio crossovers. The whole system is wired in parallel, so the amp sees a 4 ohm load. That does eliminate stereo sound, but at 70' behind the boat I don't think the ear can detect stereo vs. mono sound anyway.
This is the system I have on my tower and it will blow any car audio based system out of the water! The cans and clamps used are boss audio, so it has a great clean look, no ugly box or weird shaped fiberglass thing (to each his own).
