Tige vs Centurion - Advice Pls!

Hello All

Buying my first boat and am wicked excited to have it ready for next season! I have narrowed it down to 2 options....I do realize the feedback here might be slightly biased

1. 2007 Tige RZ2 - loaded, 5.7 l, custom ballst (2500 lbs), 115 hrs, updated '09 graphics and interior. $45,000

2. 2009 - Centurion SV 240, Scorpion 377, loaded, custom ballast (3500), 400 hours. $47,000

ps- boat will be used for 50% surfing, 25% wake-boarding, 25% tubing etc. Family of 5.

Why new interior inwhat appears to be a 2 year old boat?

apparently there was an issue with the interior (old owner). Tige replaced under the warranty but with newer interior.

I'm biased because I have owned my '07 RZ2 since new but I looked at Centurion's back when I was looking at new boats and a few things I didn't like about the Centurion were the playpen up front, specifically how it impedes on the drivers access to the rest of the boat. When you go to get out of the captain's chair, the playpen is in the way.

One other thing I didn't like was the captains chair, it sits too upright. Both are going to throw an awesome surf wave and the RZ2 will for sure put out a great wakeboarding wake with 2,500lbs of ballast. I don't have experience with the Centurion's wakeboarding wake, I never test drove/rode one (didn't make it that far).

I have 330+ hours on my RZ2 and only have had a few minor issues, no mechanical other than the steering cable is starting to get tight after 5 years and 330 hours. I love my boat, it has treated me well! Good luck with your test drives (you should test drive both).

If you are going to do a lot of riding on both sides, or are goofy, that really puts things in the RZ2 favor. They both have great waves, but they are also very DIFFERENT waves. Some people will very much prefer the RZ2 wave, its a bit steeper with a solid face and a great lip for airs and stuff. The centurion shallower, but many people prefer that type of wave, you have to try both to really know.

The RZ2 makes a wake much easier at 22 feet, it doesn't need as much weight. Both boats respond to extra weight well. Personally, I don't like the styling of the Enzo and layout, but that is more of a preference issue.

Here is some video of the 240, later model, but wake is pretty much the same, just keep in mind that it makes a very good wake on the regular side, and not as good on the other.



Those are all good examples, because the boats in each case are weighted well.

This is a tough one, both are sick boats. I am a big fan of 24 foot surf boats, I love the extra room you gain. But rz2's seem big for their size because they are picklefork.

On the regular surf side the 240 is pretty much king (a few extreme people have beaten it, but turn key it's pretty much an amazing wave). But if you plan to surf both sides then I would probably go with the rz2. The enzo 240 is the only enzo that has been proven to have a decent goofy wave. Enzo's are notorious for having bad goofy waves. If i remember correctly the enzo has to have the hydraulic wakeplate to have a good goofy wave plus 2000#'s in the back corner.

The rz2 will have a great- amazing wave on both sides. Plus lower hours and a brand new interior sounds pretty awesome.

Are you a hardcore wakeboarder? Or Just like to have fun?

Hopefully the owner has some wiggle room on price as the Centurion owner is priced to sell!

A couple of pics for you Tige experts to review...the Tige wake was shot this morning on glassy , 30ft water with 1450 in the port locker, starboard empty and nothing up front.

ps- Ragboy..great videos of teaching little ones to surf..will use the techniques to get my little guy rocking!

What did YOU think of the RZ2 wave? I personally love mine but again, that's a super biased opinion.

Before you purchase check NADA for prices. These seem a little on the high side especially in the todays economy but I may be wrong.

Those are lower than NADA prices...$45k is about trade in value on that RZ2.

As long as new one costs 90K, then prices on used will be very high. That is good for us used boat owners.

I would go with the RZ2. But it would be nice to see if the owner has treated it well. You should have had a feel for that on your test run. Sometimes people take pictures of their boats on the showroom floor, and use those same pics when it comes time to sell. Then when you see how it has been beaten since it was purchsed, it is sad.

Thx for the advice on Tige much of it thru your vids and threads! Very stoked to say I have just purchased a 2009Tige RZ2 from an owner I found thru this site....so stoked!

I have been trying to find a Grom board that I saw you demo on youtube but it was not in-stock. Do you know the status...seems like a perfect board for my little dude ( 8yrs 65lbs).

Failing that option what do you think of the Inland Ooze for him? Any other options?
