If they did that, the bottom edges of the transom wouldn't be straight lines. They'd come up from the keel, then where your "fill" starts the angle would change to more horizontal.

Easy enough to determine that by looking at a full transom shot of any production Z3. If the transom lines are straight, it's not just a "fill in the chines" mod.

EDIT: FiveFlat's example demonstrates this clearly. Look at the second illustration, the "transom" isn't a straight line:

It's straightened in the bottom illustration, but that's cheating - it's not true to the first two drawings.

I have an overlay pic in a Z3 thread around here somewhere where I took those 2 pics in photoshop and lined them up and drew a line. Don't remember what thread it was though.

I wonder if you could put an insert in there and try different shapes? Just bolt on different shapes.

The overlay pictures are in a thread on wakeworld. Google z3 chines & it'll pull up

How's this for customer service. Less than 2 days after my initial complaint, Tony with Tigè calls me this morning with what appears to be great news. Thank God I only live 2 hours from their factory, because I have to drop it off there at my earliest convenience. I'll keep y'all posted, but so far, I'm impressed with how things are being handled.

Great news, I expected that type of response.

Do you know what they are going to do with it? New hull? Modify the current hull?

I can't imagine they will replace the hull. I could see them replace the whole boat before they replace just the hull, but I could be wrong. Surely they are just going to modify the current hull. Should be a pretty easy and fairly quick task for them.

The boat should look good as new once they are done!

Added bonus, the boat should be slightly heavier if they just fill in the space and don't cut away at the hull.
                        Waiting for another good one!

Just got home with the boat. Dropped it off October 6th of last year, & to say that I'm disappointed would be an understatement. We're going to take it out on the lake for a couple of weekends to see how the "modified" hull works out, but it will be going back in about 3 weeks. Don't want to elaborate much on the details right now, but this hasn't even remotely been one of my best buying experiences. Time will tell if Tigé can turn this around. Happy boating everyone.

I wish that you hadn't mentioned anything until you are willing/able to elaborate.

But just knowing the boat has been there for almost 9 months and will have to go back again makes me irritated, and it is not even my boat, and I don't even know anyone involved.
                              Be excellent to one another.

I'll elaborate a little on the boat going back. It isn't in reference to the alteration of the hull. Probably best if I leave it there for now. There was supposedly a "miscommunication" 2 months ago when the boat was reportedly ready to be picked up. Not that 7 months is any better. I'm trying to remain optimistic about the situation after voicing our concerns to Harvey (customer service) today before we left. Hopefully we won't miss out on much more surfing time this summer. I'm just extremely thankful that Abilene is only 2 1/2hrs away. I'll update in a few weeks.
