New Tige Owner

Well figure I would jump in and start my first post. I have been lurking the forum for over a month and learning a heck of a lot of information here!

Monday (September 17th) we will be the proud owners of a 2000 2300V Limited. It has the Black Scorpion fuel injected motor. I haven't been able to find too much information for this old of a boat but I understand there was a couple of motor sizes available, this one being the largest (?)

Anyway, it has less than 300 hours and the previous owners have owned it for awhile and took good care of it. They happen to be friends of the wife's and are making the move to Hawaii which meant we got a good deal. The biggest upgrade, I believe, they did was put on a different tower. In my reading there was issues with the original tower causing cracks?

I have to laugh, we have spend a quite a few weekends on the lake with them and never took the time to take some pictures of it! I'll get some Monday when we pick it up.

It does have the original interior and they had issues with the covers over the motor compartment and storage area tearing. (Had them repaired multiple times.) Luckily I run a part time upholstery shop so I plan to redo most of the interior over time.

So the big thing for me right know is learning to set the boat up to wakesurf. After doing some research, the previous owners are not even coming close to the full potential of the boat with the current setup. Looks like we will be buying some new stuff for next season!

Congrats on the new, to you, boat. We have a 2002 23V and LOVE it!!! I hope you have as much fun as we are. Along the lines of ballast we have been trying different things and I think about 1200lbs in the rear and 500 to 600lbs in the front makes an awesome wake. Tapps at around 2 to 4 depending on preference. We run around 10.5 to 11.5 mph

We went out last night. 64 degree water and 80 degree air. almost time for wet suits

One of our first purchases were wetsuits for us! Going to try and get out as much as possible this next week or so. Temperatures are looking good so far. Fingers crossed!!!!

Welcome Hopps1945!! You are going to love that boat! I just sold mine a few weeks ago and miss it already. As as Skippabcool mentioned, we surfed and wakeboarded a lot behind that boat. The biggest three things that you will want to do is to get Perfect Pass cruise control installed, get a fresh air exhaust, and get some ballast sacks for the rear locker and up front under the seats.

I had custom sacks made for mine that fill up the back locker and go up under the back seats. I found the best configuration is to fill up the rear locker (which ever side you are surfing) and the fill up the front, TAPS around 3.5, speed between 10 - 11.5 mph (based on surf board) and nice deep water!

Here are some of the things I did to mine:

New Tower, racks and Tower speakers
Added high out put alternator
Added two more batteries, perko switch and isolator
New stereo (wet sounds on tower and in boat, 2 amps, 12 inch sub, added controls for tower and sub)
New steering system: helm, cable, and rudder
fuel flow manager
New upholstery

It's a great boat and you will love it! I did all of it with the help of this forum!

Thanks Moki for the info. Has a new tower with some great speakers but stock radio. Will be upgrading that before next season! I want to add a second battery to this one. Where is the best spot to put it? Also, they have had issues with the blower motor going out (which it is again.) I believe I read there is a work around for the water getting into the blower tube but I can't seem to find the info at the moment. I plan to replace the upholstery a piece at a time. Sadly this winter the boat will be stored offsite until we can do our garage addition so next winter I'll be able to do the upholstery work much easier.

Moki, I would be interested in know what your winterized process was for this boat and any info from anyone else would be great too!

Also, a question for everyone, I know the boat has some dock rash so what is a good buffing compound to use. Would like to find something that I can find on a local shelf and not have to order. Would like to get it waxed up before I store it for the winter.

Nick, I have two batteries on the port side, but I removed the interior wood panel that separates the engine compartment from the area where the battery is. I have the third battery on the starboard side, I repositioned the TAPS pump to get the third battery in. You can keep that interior piece if you choose this location.
In regards to winterizing, I used to pull out all the blue freeze plugs, disconnect the fresh water intake hose and a few other hoses where you can see where water will pool. I have a heater and shower, so I would disconnect those and blow the water of the hoses. The last few years, I have been hooking my boat up to the hose with the inboard water hook-up (basically a plunger with a hose connection). I let the engine run until the thermostat turns on, then I have a 5 gallon container of anti-freeze that sits on the swim platform and hook it up to the plunger and run the engine until I get a steady flow of antifreeze coming out of the exhaust, and I turn on the shower until antifreeze is coming out of it. A little bit more expensive to winterize this way but less labor.

I also posted a thread on this but followed Team Allen and KKO. The best stuff is the Maguires marine product listed in this thread.

Regarding the blower and water getting into it, I never really had a problem with mine. I would change mine out every few years, they are relatively cheap and easy to replace.
