    Wiring an EQ

I am thinking of adding an EQ when the new boat comes in. The boat is going to have the Clarion CMD4 head unit. I want the EQ so I can fade out the tower speakers, and also control the sub volume easier. I wanted to know how to wire it. Can you just take the power from the dash somewhere, or do you have to run power from the battery? Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

definitely can use power fro tmhe dash. You need a constant, a ignition lead and a ground. Very simple. Might be easier to mount it close to the radio if this is possible, otherwise you will have to run a long set of RCAs....

I ran a set of RCA cables to the dash by putting them through the air intake on the port side and then fishing them up through the hole in the floor where the steering cable goes in. It worked well and I only needed 8 foot cables to make the jump.

If your only concern is fading the tower speakers then consider this thread:

You can do that with most Alpine head units- or better yet, get some amps with remote gain control.
