NEED TO BUY A TAPS RELAY 8000-251 Serial # 597

I have a 2001 TIGE 22i with the TAPS and I have jump tested the pump all working but the Switch in the Throttle or the Relay is bad for no power to the pump.

Call the AZ Tige dealer and they state the relay is no longer made and a $300 conversion is required to replace the $10 relay.

Anyone have or know a replacement for the TAPS relay Part # 8000-251 Serial # 597 square 2 inch by 2 inch 3 Wires to connect to the Throttle switch and then 3 wires Blue, Green and Yellow to the pump and I guess the Red and White are the 12 volt power to the Relay so 8 total wires. You can replace it with 2 relays just have to wire it up. Ivd done it on a 2001. I'll see if I can put together a write up on how to do it for you.

To test the relay, there are 3 wire. Red, white, and black that go from the relay to connectors that hook them into very fine thin wire. Un-hook the the three. Touch the black to the red and then the white to the black. If it works then the switch or wire in the throttle handle is bad. If it doenst work then the relay itself is bad.

Alright here is a rough sketch of what to do. Go to parts store or where ever get 2 of the $6 relays. Then you need to get 2 Diodes from Radio Shack or something like that, get the 3Amp or 6Amp versions. Pay attention to the direction on the silver band when wiring it up. I also like adding in a 20 amp fuse to the new relay system. Then just hook the wires up per the colors.

You can use the simple relays like I used with the wiring in the pic. Worked go when I fixed brothers 2001. I copied what Tige had used on my 97.

Sorry man.. I don't know for sure. I'll try and snap a picture of it next time I'm down at the boat. I just posted the part number a while back on an old thread when I went through the same thing. I bit the bullet and paid for it directly from Tige. Those relays are the same ones that came from Tige, but they were already wired together when I got them.

I located a 5 pin Relay at Checkers with two 87 out terminals for $4.99 each. I will wire one for the up and one for the down. This relay will not require the diodes or splice for now the Green value wire has a terminal on the relay.

You have to use the diodes to keep the power from back feeding unless the relay has it built in for the 2 87 terminals.
