    Another Rival Ballast Thread

I'm looking for photos of this system install. Things like product delivery, drilling hole in boat, installing water lines and pumps, install of switches and electrical componenets, etc. Also, does anyone have the Fly High sac that fits under the open bow compartments? Is there enough space under those compartments to fill this sac to it's capacity without damaging your boat?

I may be looking at installing this system and would like as much feedback as possible. THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Here is a thread to a post that has some info on the Rival Sys. http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1632&perpage=15&highlig ht=ballast&pagenumber=1[/URL]

We have the system in our 24V. 2 - 440 in back and 2 - 220 up front.
    No problems so far.

Has anyone ever tried installing one of these on a 1999 21v?

I have the Rival system and in the bow of my 22V had two 200# bags. Last month I replaced them with one of the Fly High bow bags made out of their new material. I also added a new 200# bag of the same material under the bow cushion. I figure that I actually had 350# before and about 600# now. The only problem with the bow bag is not the fit, but placement of the connections. I custom located one connection in the top at the point, for a vent- one each on the bottom of each leg for drain pump connections- and one on the end of one of the legs for filling.

I have found that having a little larger bag than the space is not a problem if the bag is vented properly. It fills the space nicely and then just overflows thru the vent.

            Paublo,

Is the Fly High bag the one that goes under your bow cushions? This one:

Yes, that is the one I used. I just had them move the connections as I described.

How much did they charge you to move the connections? That's a great idea. Can you fill it to capacity without the seats in the bow pushing up?

                  Zeda,

remeber that the bag should have a fill and a VENT. The vent is a tube that will overflow out the side of the boat when the pressure builds up in the bag. If it vents properly, it is impossible to have the seats bulge upward even if the bag was way too big, it would just fill until the pressure was enough to overflow through the vent.

I have seen pics of improper or no ventilation that actually cracked the fiberglass above the rubrail in the rear compartment (of course that wasn't in a Tige)
                  Be excellent to one another.

                    Tall,

Did you end up installing the Rival system in your boat? If so, what did you think of the installation (easy, time consuming, worth the effort, etc.)?

The price direct from Fly High was about $275 and some extra change for the exact fittings I wanted. I ended up having my dealer order it for me- same price.

And the seats don't really get pushed up- like Talltigeguy says, it vents and prevents the bag from overfillling.

So far, I am still all talk and no action on the Ballast system. I think I might be moving on it soon...(I keep saying that!).

                          Puablo,

Thanks for the info. I will likely do the same type of thing with my boat.

                          Tall,

I know what you mean about all talk and no action. It seems like something is always popping up and pushing boat items down the priority list. At the very least, I will be buying that bow sack and filling it the old fashioned way. Hope all is well down in sunny St. George. I wish I could get down there and ride with ya but it's ski race season and the family is slammed just about every weekend. Take it easy.
