Z3 pro ballast vs surf ballast

Shopping Z3's and I am curious on thoughs on the surf ballast package vs the pro ballast package? We primary surf. For essentially $900 (I was told) more for pro I wonder how much bigger and better the surf wake will be? Always appreciate the insight from this forum!

The only difference between the two options is the surf has a single 600# U shaped bow sac and the pro has a pair of 400# sac.

Based on Ragboys comments, I do not think the Z3 needs too much in the front.

I've surfed on Z3's with both packages, go with the surf ballast if you are primarily surfing. No need to spend the extra money.

My only Z3 experience was driving the comp boat at the West coast open and we would fill the pro ballast front full. We did at times run another couple hundred pounds on top of that even.

It's actually 1,100 lbs in the front on the Pro system vs 400.

Yeah, my info was based off the original release, which was stated as a pair of 400# sacs in the bow. They later stated that the Z3 was going to have more ballast, but the impression I got was it would have more rear weight. For wake-boarding, I like the idea of 1100 in the bow, but for surfing, it needs more in the rear.

Regardless, I do not see the difference in bow weight being beneficial.

considering the cost for a pair of custom sacs, $900 additional is not too much of a stretch.

Respectfully disagree. In Ragboy's stock Z3 ballast post, he actually emphasizes the Z3 needs a lot of weight in the front.

Well, I guess that info has changed also, so guess i dont know chit about what im talking about. Buy a Z3 and just get e cement truck to fill the bow with conrete, that should do it!

I have the Z3 with the surf ballast. It makes a decent surf wave, but I wish I would have gone with the pro ballast. I think it would definitely help out with my wake, especially when there's not as many people riding. You really need to have weight all over the boat to get the best surf wake. I've never heard anybody complain that they had too much ballast, horsepower, speakers, etc...

Does anybody know exactly what fly-high sacs (550 lbs) they use in the bow for the pro ballast system?
