2012 RZ2 Considering Selling

It might be hard to sell without a trailer.Example buyer wants it,where do you get a trailer to fit it in a reasonable length of time.Buyer will expect depreciation on trailer too.You will pay at least 3000 to 4000 for cheap trailer.Then expect 10% to 15% depreciation on the boat.Plus price increase on 2013 boats to make a 2013 Z3 cost more than a 2012.Sounds expensive for 43 hours of use,could cost up to 12000 .

Those are good points, and I understand about the trailer. I'm pretty reasonable and easy to deal with, so I'm sure those issues could be worked through.

Guys, if I do decide to sell it, and I think I am leaning that way, what is a fair price to ask if I don't want to dicker around? I've never been one to ask for a high price, then play the games with the buyer. I'd like to ask a fair price, then make a deal. Thanks again for your help! Great people here.

Looks on CL and other sites for prices, and make sure yours is placed at a lower price point. It also being the end of the season, boat sales seem to slow down.

Another point mentioned on the other page is doing a trade in and saving on taxes...then there is no worry for a need for a trailer or shady tire kickers...wait there are no tires to kick .

That doesn't really make much sense, but at the end of the day our purchases are often driven by emotion.

You hit the nail on the head right there. If you are excited about a new boat, and the emotional kick is there, then go for it! As long as you are able to not jeopardize your financial situation.

The boat is beautiful. I don't know if anyone has a great feel for what 2012's used are worth. It seems that Ecutter's thread spiked some emotions around here. I think there is a wide variety in how much these boats are purchased for when new, so that makes recently used values vary a lot. I would be willing to bet that Ragboy paid less than some others.

73-75k seems fair for your boat since it has the 409 but no trailer. That basically makes those things a wash.

You have to hope someone local wants your boat, and will be comfortable owning it without the warranty

Thanks for the pointers about the tax savings on trade. I have a relationship with my local dealer where I can sell the boat, and route it through them for the tax credit. They give me too much of a haircut in taking it on trade.

As for my local area, I am in Ontario, Canada (Toronto/Muskoka to be more specific).

That said, you guys are talking $70K-75K for the sale, and I think I would be willing to do a deal in that range. I recognize that this represents a significant loss from the original purchase price, but I guess that's the price you pay to get something new. Thanks for all the helpful input!

Did Tige change the warranty policy? I thought the original warranty can be transfered but there is a fee to do so, is this not the case anymore?

I purchased a used 2011 RZ2, in 2011. (not from a tige dealer) The dealer never offered me to buy a warranty, but i never asked either. I was told the warranty did not transfer when i asked about that 360 service/warranty all the 2011 boats came with.

The PCM warranty is transferable for a fee and so is the Tige Lifeplus hull warranty, but the 3 year and 360 plan are not. But there is plenty of extended warranties out there for purchase.

Heh we are in Muskoka as well near Port C. We just bought a Z3 in July and love it. We haven't surfed yet but 50 hours so far wake boarding. We looked very closely at both RZ2 and Z3....for us we liked the additional room and the v nose.....this is all new to me and the kids....very cool coming from the ski days....funny enough we are just building boat house to!

These depreciation numbers are grossly understated. 1st year depreciation starts @ 20% and goes higher from there. Tax on the new boat will chime in around $5K to 8K, so better to give this fee to a dealer on a working trade up instead of the state revenue dept. The swap will cost you around $25K. I personally would give this $25K to the GOP as a political donation.

I fully disagree with you Nobdy. I put this out there in another thread. We bought an Axis brand new in 2010 for 48k. Owned it for 15 months and put 250 hours on it. Traded it in for 45k. That isn't even 10% depreciation. Boat was then listed for 49k and sold the first day the dealer listed it. I'm not sure what it sold for. However there was no 20% depreciation.
