The big question is, no matter what boat you are arguing for, is who is "everybody". Is it him, his wife and his son or is it also the guy who owns the Tige Z3. It is hard to get an unbiased opinion, because than you have to say you made an 80 - 90K mistake if you like the other guy's boat. The second part of his statement sounds like he has an axe to grind.

I propose that we get dialed-in boats from all the manufacturers and have a surf comparison with the boat hidden from the view of the surfer. I nominate that Tall be in charge of getting all the boat manufacturers to provide a boat at the Lake Meade reunion and then figure out a way to hide the boat from the surfer.

I have Surfed behind a Malibu 24' Wakesetter,a Nautique and Tigé 22VE,RZ2 and Z3. When any of these boats are weighted improperly they make a terrible wave. But if any of them are weighted properly the make a good wave. The differences i've noticed is in the push the wave has farther back in the wave.Of all the boats listed the Z3 has the most push of any of the waves the whole length of the wave. This by no means is suggesting the other waves aren't surf able further back, just they don't have as much push. Also the Tige's seem to make a better Goofy wave than the others i have surfed.Still i think the quality of the wave comes down to preference.Even though i surf Regular and Goofy along with Heel side Regular and Goofy at my age i don't mind waiting to switch sides. However it would be nice for younger surfers with more energy. As for the list statement when we weighted the Z3 it hardly had any list and when i weighted my RZ2 like Wickedcummins suggested it also had less list and less bow rise.I have yet to ride behind a Malibu with Surfgate so i can't speak to the quality of it's wave.
I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

Just to add flame to the fire:

"So my buddy bought the much hyped tige z3. I talked him into getting the wake makers 1400 lb custom bag for it. We surfed both back to back for several days. My boat is an 11 lsv. Both boats have the 6 liter motors, and acme 1235 props. Both boats were weighted close to the same. Hands down everybody liked the Malibu boat's wave better ! Why does the the wake surfing community always snub their nose at malibu? On the lighter side, I get to demo a surf gate lsv this week! They told me I could bring a few fat sacs along. I will give my thoughts on this later this week."

This is the second guy this week to say the same thing. The LSV in question did not have surfgate, as it comes only on 2013's. I suggested in the first thread that he send his friend over to Tigeowners to see what he must be doing wrong and he said that the guy has it just like Ragboy's recipe.

BTW...what happened to the first several Z3 boats that were the 'first generation'? That hull needed some tweaking, to say the least, and I wonder if those are out there still. I wonder if that might be one explanation for the above observation.
I switched to the Z3 this year from a 2010 malibu 23 lsv. I appreciate that the Malibucrew love there boat, but you will never convince me that anyone would choose that boat over a Z3 for surfing. The malibu is an incredible boat I loved it! The problem is the hull. You can make a surf wake, but the hull is not designed to produce the best surf wake. Put a surf gate on and make it easier to switch from side to side "great", you'll be really fast at switching a mediocre surf wake from side to side. Just my thoughts.

I finally saw a 22 MXZ on our lake the other day, pictures and seeing it in the boat shows didnt' do it justice, very sexy boat on the water, and I imagine the 24 will also look great on the water. Those marketing videos show such a nasty looking surf wave though. I don't think they look to the full time wake surfer as a market yet or something.

              Both are sexy boats though.

Surf wake probably wasn't that great since it was a private lake, which are usually only 10' deep.

All boats have some bowrise when getting up on plane, are you looking at your first boat? If not, what are you coming from and what do you think excessive bow rise? I only ask because we don't get many comments about excessive bow rise very often here, and it hasn't been a concern for me with my RZ2.

When you test drive both boats let us know what you think of both of them, I love hearing about new boats.

Yes, I am new to boats and have a Yamaha 212x jet boat. Nice family cruising boat but we are noticing that we really enjoy wakesurfing and wakesports so switching to a more dedicated boat would be nice. The Yamaha has very little bow rise.

If I get a chance to demo both I will definitely report in.

Your wave destroys most all waves and boat combinations.

Altough I am really wanting to ride behind a Z3 and a BU would be a nice try too.

It will definitely feel like the bow is up high compared to a jet boat. The weight of the boat, location of the prop vs the jet, shape of the hull. Big difference between what you're coming from and what you're looking to get into. If the boat is weighted properly, the bow will come back down once you get it on plane.
