There is a hole in the pad, and a hole in the aluminum, but the bottom surface is smooth (no nipple for hose) and the water just drains into the storage compartment or whatever else is below it.

Ewok, I believe we have the same year of boat. Do you have these drain lines on your cupholders?
My cupholders by the passenger glove box have lines draining to the bilge so they wouldn't leak on the stereo equipment there but elsewhere I don't know what the big deal is, most folks on my boat drink out of cans wrapped in koozies so there is little to no moisture building up that would require a drain at all.

And I suspect the hull side of a center drain looks the same as a mushroom thru hull, just a little smaller. In the famous words of Officer Thorny, "that little guy? I wouldn't worry about that little guy."
And who could forget "who wants a mustache ride?"

Agreed, I'm not sure why this is an issue but thought I'd share what Tige installed on my particular boat to add to the discussion.

I have over a dozen cupholders in various places. They are all identical, and none have any sort of fluid management.

Yes, there are a lot of things under there but I've heard lots of stories about how the speedo wheels (and thus cruise control) and depth gauges were messed up after someone installed ballast thruhulls in front of them. The theory is that the thruhull causes turbulence, which then causes problems for the triducer. This is why I kept ALL of my ballast thruhulls on the opposite side of the keel from the triducer. Even if the thruhull isn't directly in front of the sensor, the turbulence angle can change with hull speed - but I can't imagine a scenario where the turbulence would cross UNDER the keel to the other side.

When you install them, how far from the keel do you cut the hole? Obviously centered on the keel would drain the most water, but sealing the outside thruhull would be a nightmare....
It depends on what is in the area. You should be able to put it right in font of the Coupler where the delta pad starts. That will be dead center and flat and in the perfect spot to drain all the water. Then you will need to make an access hatch like all the new boats have so you can easily take the plug in and out.

Sometimes you get this wierd stuff falling from the sky or perhaps you pull your carpet to hose out the floor....

I have the factory hatch under the rear seat cushion. Just lift the cushion and there it is, so access is easy. (This is also my emergency access to my ballast shutoffs.)

Are you saying to put the hole on the delta pad itself? Dom told me long ago to leave the delta pad alone. Maybe right at the very very front is OK?

Ya thats where they all go. Im sure he was talking about not putting your ballast pick ups way at the back of the delta pad. Plus once again its only a 2" or so fitting. I'll see if i can take a pictures of one fore you tomorrow.

Yes its at the very front of the delta pad area...dont make a mountian out of a molehill as they say. It causes no issues with spedos, cruise, performance, fuel consumption, driveability, resale, form, function, reliabilty, ballast fill times, ballast empty times, wakes, noise, vibration ,loading on the trailer, backing off the trailer, driving down the road, deep water, shallow water, ruff water, calm water, winter, spring, summer or fall. Only problem that has come up is forgetting to put it in!

Yes, that would be a bit of a problem!

I'm away from my 24Ve at the moment, so help me visualize. Where is the front of the delta pad relative to the engine, transmission, and v-drive? Stated another way, where would be plug be relative to these components?

towards the bow... few inches forward from the trans coupler.

The trans coupler being the interface between the engine and the transmission, or the transmission and the v-drive? Sorry, I don't know all of the terminology.

Cover your boat. And if it's on the floor it's draining to the bilge
