rode behind a Malibu 247 LSV today....

wow what a nice boat very impressed with that boat. I think the interior is nicer then my Tige RZR. My wetsounds seem to be a little better sounding then the Malibu stuff. We had 13people in it, plus full ballast, and wedge while wakeboarding. The wake was huge for wakeboarding. The boat had the 6.0L and was struggling to get on plane.....fully expected for how much weight we had on board. Overall very impressed with that boat. One thing I was shocked by was the surf wake, my Tige RZR wake was much larger and longer then the 247. Still a great wake though.

How fast did you have to ride with that size boat and that much weight for a clean wake?

The 247 has a great wave but takes like 3500 pounds to get it. Massive boats. Makes my 24v look small for some weird reason.

we had 12 people, plus stock ballast and I think wedge at 10.6mph and it was somewhat clean....still small and short compared to the RZR

Also the 247 took the waves way way better then my RZR. It just cut through them where as my Tige sounds like its going to break in half.

A 24 foot boat will take waves better than most 20 foot pickle fork designs. In rough water a V style hull typically will cut tall waves better than the pickles. This is not to say that Tige pickles don't ride well because they do. I have demo'd an R20 and comparing its ride against the 20V I used to have. IMO the 20V handled whitecaps and tall rollers better. For me I prefer the 20V over the R20 & RZR ride wise. I have restrictions that/ keep me in the 20 foot class. The new Tige R20 and RZR are nice with the extra bow space and cooler set up but with us having 4-6 folks aboard and our labs the 20V is prefered.

                whatever...

So with 12 peeps' where did everyone sit? Was the wave messy 'cause you had too many people on the wrong side? That's a sh*tload of weight. That wave should have been ginormous and sexy as h*ll. Exactly how much weight do you think you had? Were you in deep water? Pics? OR were you just wakeboarding? with even weight?

10.6 is pretty slow for a 247, I think. Folks who get 'em going right go more like 11.5+ AFAIK. Talltigeguy prolly has some input on that.

                    I meant wakeboarding speed.

im not sure what wakeboarding speed was as I was in the bow. There were only 2-3 people on the non surf side while surfing. No pics.

Tall will chime in with a more accurate number, but my guess would be nothing more than 23.5mph. Malibus are known for really clean wakes at slower speeds.

                        I ride my 23LSV with 3000# of ballast at 75ft and 22.6 - 23mph.

One of the beautiful things about the 247 is that the wake stays clean down to very slow speeds, nice for beginners. Like any boat, the more weight, the faster you need to go. I ride with full ballast plus a 750, and wedge at 22.6 and it is super clean. With ballast empty, it is clean to 17-18 MPH.

I hated my X45 because with even less weight, I had to go 24 MPH. WIth no weight, it still needed to go 22MPH.

That seems like lots of people weight, depending on the size of those people. We surf at 11.8 and the pocket is nice. I have a surf sack that fills to an estimated 1400 pounds or so.

Let's see if this facebook video link works. I clicked on 'embed video' and it says that this video will work from any site on the net.

That is way lame. If anyone knows how to post a video from facebook, let me know.
