    opinions welcomed!!

I descided instead of going out on the water Sunday afternoon I would wash, wax and really clean the boat up. (After having a good vacation last week.) I noticed cracks in the gel-coat of the boat. Is this normal and what could have caused it? No kind of stress has been put on the boat what so ever. I always throttle back crossing waves to help out on tower racks and also to keep the wife happy. Any advice or suggestions would be great.

the main crack is on top of the hull on the port side running into or behind the rear seat.

my thoughts are its a 2011 boat right? get with the\A dealer should be under warranty. my only concern would be, do you have any structural issues below that causing it?

Yes, it is a 11' I bought it new four months ago. What could cause this?

I have something very similar, a hairline crack on the inside of the bow. A mechanic at my dealer said it can be repaired (or cosmetically covered up, IMHO)

probably a screw too deep is my guess. i have one off my front windshield where they attached it... hard to say unless you start looking and removing things.

Thermal changes cause cracks, so do damage. The warranty work should make it so you can't see it at all.

Warranty should cover damages but you really want your dealer to try and figure out what caused it. You want to make sure that the hull does not have an issue and the problem is only cosmetic in the gel coat. You do not just want them to fix gel coat without isolating the root cause.

So I spoke with Harvey with Tige' today. He told me this was not a uncommon of a problem with the early serieal number 11's it needs the hull reinforced in that area... It has seemed like my boat is got a line of issues, but Tige' (Harvey) seem to want to help it is hard to get to pissed off I am just hoping I am getting close to getting the bugs worked out so all I have to post about is the fun that I am having with the Boat!!!! 8D

It is good that they are going to fix. Do you have to take boat dowm to Abilene?

More than likely that is just a gel crack. It is easy to fix and should be only cosmetic

So if just jelcoat, why does hull need to be re-enforced?

To keep it from cracking again. If the fiberglass is flexing under the gel because it's not strong enough or reinforced well, then the gel can crack.

The keywords are hull needs to be reinforced. If this is true it is probably more than a simple gelcoat problem. Since it seems to be isolated to early Serial numbers of this model based on the comment by racerdave, it would seem to me that it is a design issue of sorts. I hope this is not the issue.

I wonder what the serial number range is for the 2011 R20's. Are RZR's also affected by this?

Just wondering how you made out with the gel coat fix? Did Tige help you out? It looks like I am going to be responsible for my boat as Tige has said that gel coat and cracking is excluded from warranty coverage.
