It never ceases to amaze me that we really don't even know how much fact is involved here. Can't a guy just call the factories in Abilene, then Tennesee (where malibu and MC are made) and ask how many boats they built in 2011? It doesn't seem that complicated.
Anyway, it is good to know that Tige is moving up in the standings, and I think that is reflected by what us users see as well.

Worth a shot, but Tige is privately owned and I don't know if any of the others are public companies. Private firms generally keep important stats like that pretty close to the vest.

Maybe this information is just as "TOP SECRET" as the price of a new boat.
Ranking is really more than just market share or numbers of units sold. Market share is important to know and to see if the company is keeping pace or gaining ground on their competitors. Market share could also be analyzed to see if Tige say has a niche in the 20 foot R20/RZR markets and such. Is Tige ahead of competition in the larger wakeboarding and growing surf boat markets?
Market share is also driven by the customer's (prospective and actual) view on quality. Does the market buy Tige boats based on quality perceptions? Tige has addressed many QA issues. Has this improved their market ranking?
Tige has come a long way. If they are number four they have done a heck of a job growing in a down market. They are positioned well with wakeboard and surf class boats since this is the number one growth area in watersports.
I am so . Yes my question is answered. The number of units sold surprises me. It makes me wonder what kind of margin does Tige have and how many dealers does it have? I am not asking it though! If we assume that they build and sell 500 units this year, what is the average number of boats sold by a dealer?
It is good to see Tige move up and gain market share and get into the top 5
