-Get both boats in sync with there speed first before you even start with a rider in the water.
-Designate one driver as the leader the other as the follower. The follower needs to be the better driver.
-The boats will be closer than you expect, both drivers need to be 100% attentive to whats going on. There is not a lot of room for error or little mistakes.

We tried this briefly at Lake Mead last year. It was harder than it seems. We did it without a rider and really did not get it to feel like it was doable. Part of the problem is that both boats had big port surf sacks, so when I was driving, my starboard side was smaller.
And like Turbo says, it seemed that we needed to be closer than I expected, to the point of being somewhat uncomfortable. 'To be attempted by professional drivers only on a closed course' or something like that comes to mind.Be excellent to one another.

Ewok and I did this a few weeks ago on our lake. It does work, but the froth in the center is serious and hard to eliminate. My 10YO son said he still felt some push back there but it wasn't enough to keep him from falling back. Ewok kept the rope the entire time and was able to switch from side to side, but not go ropeless (yet).
I think more testing is needed, playing with speed to drive the froth rearward and hopefully minimize it.

Turbonine's tips are spot on, and it is not for the faint of heart. I tried it one other time and it was too choppy and we aborted. This time it was a weekday after school has started and no one was out there, I think we saw one boat. It was glass also. I had Dave set his speed around 11mph and I made sure we had lots of room to go straight with no turns. He was to just get straight and hold. I pulled in and had to match his speed and listen to RJ about closer or farther. I had to FOCUS. I stared at the TAPS sticker under Dave's windshield and did NOT look up other than to check ahead quickly. The second driver pulling up is a bit tough and you have to FOCUS, no distractions. We didn't do it long because it felt like something would go wrong if you kept doing it.

I will agree that its not as easy as most think. You really have to pay attention and the drivers need to be focused on each other to not end up playing bumper boats. Especially when you are driving next to a brand new z3. Lol. It was very cool to see that with two good wakes. There was one time Rj fell into the white wash and actually stayed in. It for a few seconds before getting spit out the back. Lots of fun but don't try this at home.
