Acme 1235 on a 22V

Has anyone fit a Acme 1235 prop on a 22V? I spoke with Acme today and they guy I talked to said there's no way a 1235 would fit without being too close to the hull. Is this true? Thanks!

I would measure the prop you have on now then measure how much space you have from the tip of the prop to the hull. Then check the specs on the 1235 then you will know.

Interesting I have seen them on VE without issues..Wonder whats different? Maybe the strut angle is different? But I am not real sure. I always wanted to try one on my boat just to see the difference but never got around to it. I would like to know the answer to this question as well.

You will also want to measure the distance from the prop to the trailer.

One of the changes between the V and Ve is the angle of the shaft. The V does sit a little closer to the hull. Whether the small change in diameter would make any difference is a good question.

The diameter of the 1235 is only going to be 1 inch different than the 537 that is on there now. I am not sure that 1/2 inch closer to the hull is really going to be a problem. I would climb under the boat and check that the prop you have now is the 537 that is 13.5". The 1235 is 14.5".

If the clearance of the 1235 is an issue, then I would suggest the 1433. 14" DIA x 14.5 pitch. This prop will improve the hole shot and bite, yet has a small diameter increase to offset the RPM increase due to the drop in pitch.

I run the 1617 on my 2003 22v with around 2600lbs of ballast and the 5.7 merc and it pulls really well out of the hole. Its a 14" prop and when I was measuring I think a 14.5 would be cutting it really close. Im also at 5000ft. Hope this helps.

I didn't ride in topaz's boat but, I did surf it. I thought it pulled just fine out of the hole. Also one of the best wakes I've ever seen.

They did change the angle between the v and ve. I just put a 1579 on my buddies 2004 22v, which is a 13.5. I had a 1433 on my 23v, and I think my buddy should have got that one as well. I think a 1235 would fit but you would get gelcoat burn from it running to close to the hull. So your best bet would be a 1433.

I didn't ride in topaz's boat but, I did surf it. I thought it pulled just fine out of the hole. Also one of the best wakes I've ever seen.

Thanks nicky that was a fun day. We need to get together again for a surf day. Granted I haven't tried any other props yet but my 1617 was able to pull up a surfer with my 2600lbs of ballast with 8 guys in the boat all averaging 250lbs each.

I'm mostly wakeboarding these days with about 3000lbs, so will the 1433 or 1617 be a huge improvement from the 537 that I currently have? We surf often as well, but the 537 does a decent job with the 1200lbs I use. It's just pretty terrible at getting up to and staying at 23mph with 3000lbs and more than 2 ppl in the boat. I need to do some measurements, but I'm willing to risk gel coat burn under the boat if the 1235 is substantially better than the 1433 or 1617.

With either the 1235 or the 1433, you are dropping 1.5" in pitch. This will improve hole shot over the 16" pitch 537. With both, you are also adding diameter. This increase in surface are helps with speed holding and reduces cavitation.

Acme may let you buy the prop and return it if you don't like it. But they usually charge full list price for that service. CHPthrl may be able to get it for a little less. I would contact him, and I would be willing to bet you will get the right prop the first time around without worrying about a return.
