    alpha Z and rack space

Has anyone done any mods to the tower to add more space for racks? I love the tower design. But the down side is limited space. would like to take more gear at times and not try to find places to keep it.

wonder if anyone has modified it to mount other racks on it?

We didn't modify the tower but we had surf pockets sewn into our bimini for $250. They will hold wakeboards as well as surfboards. Gives us space for 6 boards. I still wish we could get an additional set of racks but that doesn't appear to be an option. This was almost a deal killer for us but we loved the boat so much we went with Tige.

I have the factory Tige swivel racks. I wanted an extra rack, so I ordered a Samson swivel rack and took it to the dealer to see if we could mount it somewhere below the factory racks. After holding it in different spots, we decided there was no location that would work well. I returned the Samson rack and got the surf bimini this season.

Went home at lunch and looked at my tower and what space there is... if you go high.. bimini will hit them... the only way I see is down lower. but yet have to stand off enough that they clear the windshield with boards in them. In my case my racks have to be in to get in the garage, so I am thinkining of making a plate that mounts to the tower and then attach the racks to that in a fashion I can remove them.

thinking i will figure out a way to mod some air boom ones with the tige log for the middle plate.

if you mount higher or on top think some cutting and sewing on the bimini to get access and to put it up, access ext will be required.... hmm...

My brother has those racks on his MB. Great concept not that great of execution. If you put a surfer in the middle the wakeboard on the bottom moves all around and can fall out pretty easily. They need to tweak the racks some to really get them to work properly. Shawndoggy who posts on here occasionally has an MB and has the same problems.

So they need another bungee, or clamp for the center fork.

Yeah or even just tweaking how the bungee is attached to the rack. It's in the middle instead of up high. Also the hook it attaches to is incredibly tiny. I think a bigger hook and the bungee up higher would be an improvement. The hook being the bigger improvement.

It would be even better if they made a 3 board clamp style rack, oh and one of the forks you could adjust to fit what ever size board. So you could hold 2 surf boards and 1 wake board, or the other way around. Just thinking out loud.
