    Possible owner questions?

welp ive narrowed my decision down to the tige and malibu so let me ask you guys a few questions about yalls boats my main intent on picking the boat will be for advanced wakeboarding, the wake will need to be big like really big. For all the guys on here that really ride alot how do you sack out your boat? Do most of you guys have the additional factory ballast and then more fat sacs, or do you just have fat sacs and leave out the factory ballast. Also if you do have the factory ballast where do you place the extra fat sacs in the boat to get the best shape and size. Also whic of the 22 and 24 footers produce the best wake shape, in other words would i want to go with the 22v, 22ve, 24v, or 24ve, i have heard the "v" produce a better wake then the "ve" is this true?

    It all depends.

Where do you live and what kind of lakes will you be wakeboarding? ie. bigwater/smallwater, lake depth, number of persons on board, etc.

Tige owns big water, Tige owns roughwater, hands down, no competition.

The others will have to be factored in according to your responses to the later ?'s.

For example, a friend of mine, P.H., has a beautiful 23' malibu, but can't use it alot because it is too small for our lake and conditions. And if it gets rough he hugs the shore says a prayer and heads home.

The 24-VE is the new flagship, so I would thick that its wake is just as good if not better then the 24-V.
I believe that the hull the same on both boats.
The only deferent’s is the CG and that is not buy much.
(The ve cg is a little farther forward)
Tige, it's a way of life!

well i will be using the boat primarily on lake travis texas, its a large lake and can get rough when all the wknd warriors hit which is primarily why we were leaning towards the tige. But like i said i need a wake and ive heard alot of bashing towards the tiges wake, of course if we do go in that direction though i will demo the boat and see for myself but i just wanted to see some other opinions.

There is a difference in hulls on the V and Ve series. The new Ve series has a wider delta pad and more rocker than the V series which translates to bigger and better shaped wakes. However I haven't been behind one yet but that is my understanding.

With a Tige you have two distinct advantages. Tiges are heavier boats than other manufactures which will help aid in rough water riding. Lastly with TAPS2 you will also have the option to adjust running attitude (bow up or bow down) which again will help with rough water.

          Ok, sales hat off.

We rode in one of the first '06 22 Ves to roll off the line. The wake was awesome!

Will the difference in hull translate into rampier or steeper wakes?

Don't forget that there is a slight difference in the shaft angle between the V and Ve and that will make a difference in the attitude of the boat and thus the wake.

I have a 2005 24V and have had the opportunity to take a number of different boarders on my boat, including some who do advanced inverts. When I put just a single 600 pound bag in the front the wake is very, very nice. That is with only a few people in the boat. I always receive compliments on it. I have also then put a 400 in each locker and the wake is downright huge. Even for the guys who like to go very big, just that single bag up front seems to be plenty adequate.

I don't think I would go with the Tige ballast. If you really need an advanced huge wake, you may want more than that ballast can give - The Tige system is a 4 tank 850 pound system that seriously eats up the storage space. I would go with a soft sack system like Rival Industries and then when the sacks are empty, you still have the biggest storage around.

With the TAPS you can adjust the wake to a rampier or steeper feel, depending on how you like it.
              Be excellent to one another.

I have spoken to some pros who will remain unnamed state that any boat can have a great wake It all depends on how much and where you put the wieght in the boat.

That being said Cathy Williams told me she puts about THREE THOUSAND pounds in her 24V!!!

Speaking of 3000 lbs. in a 24, here is a pic of a 2006 24ve with 3000lbs at Marathon Key, Florida.

I'm with TTG on this one. I've got a 22v. Scratch the OEM ballast, and go with a custom aftermarket. My rear tanks only weighed 250 each, and the front tanks were 125 each. Can't be filled while underway, either.

Rival makes a good set up. http://www.rivalindustries.com/Download%20brochure.htm
And you can get the Fly High X-series bags. They already make a custom sac for the bow, and the rear sacs can either be the v-drive sacs (400+ each) or the Fat Sac (700lb each) I don't think you can get the Fat Sac completely full tho.

www.pop-products.com can get you some addl lead bags to throw around if you only ride with a few people.

You won't be disappointed with the wake. It's hard and can be shaped to your preference.

Not sure if you surf or not, but the surf wake is huge. It can actually be too big, with all the weight, if you're looking to spin. I like the surfwake a little mellower (less weight/taps3-4) so I don't drop in off the lip.

                      Good luck with your search.

I think some of the pros have not tried to make a great wake out of a 185 Bayliner lately. It can be rideable (is that a word?), but is limited by the hull shape and engine power to make it 'good'.

Perhaps it would be better said that you can get a good wake out of any inboard boat if you weight it correctly. That I believe. I love that with my Tige, I can make my wake rampy or steep depending on speed and skill and mood of the rider.
