Hope you heal quickly, Im out due to a broken arm non lake causes though. So far only major injury on the lake was friend that tried to take his ear off twice. Wakeboard was too long for him and some how it caught him twice behind the ear. Got him a helment now

I have an older but similar hull just 1/2ft shorter. Im just getting into the surfing. Ive been running 2-350#s one on side of motor all the way to the back seat. Then I stack the second 350# on top of it and on to the back seat. I also have 200#s under back seat. Then running #200 in bow. Plus 2 #220 guys on back seat an one one obsevers seat and one driving. Throws pretty good surf. I just need longer board and arm to heal

Right on Ruger - hope you heal soon as well - my son(3) has been telling me he wants "me and him to get a helmet". lol.

That info is good too, thats probably what I'm gonna try next weekend...pick up a couple bags to throw in the floor for now. My whole family is coming so I should be able to put quite a bit of weight on the boat....

I'm getting excited....already bought the rope, I just need a board....

I'd be willing to bet Ruger has himself a pretty nice wake going with that setup. For me, I really wanted all my ballast below decks. I got a wife and kid as do the vast majority of my friends. I simply can't run that kind of set up. If it was all dudes, I'd run something like that all day long. My set up, weight wise, is very conservative. I do feel its highly effective given its placement though.

I'd say you've got yourself a good prop on there. I wouldn't worry about that unless it starts cavitating under extreme load coming out of the hole. I'm betting it doesn't. That's money you can spend on a board.

Well, you ain't so big. You just tall, that's all. Sorry. Steve Miller reference. Obviously, the best thing to do is demo anything and everything you can get your hands on and do it behind your boat. What works on someone else's wave doesn't mean it'll work on your wave. A tiny little board may feel great on a pro size wake with pro shape but, that same board might not even surf behind your boat. I would get a decent ballast set up going and then get a board so that you know what your wake is going to be like.

I can't believe I'm recommending surf style boards now but, the outright, down the line speed is hard to argue with. Of the ones I've ridden, I think the Flyboy is a really stable, fast board. Surfdad was telling me how everybody seems to think it is so incredibly loose. I felt, in comparison to my board, it was like trying to surf a locomotive. If you're just getting into surfing, you're not going to have those comparisons to draw from and it will just be a nice board. Super stable, predictable turning with great down the line speed and good durability. They are a little spendy though. The Lakewakes seem to be great value and people seem to love love them. I've only had one ride on one and it just wasn't for me. That was just one particular shape and size though. He make custom rides for just about anyone so design can be altered quite a bit. Duffy has some really crazy stuff he has made from Shred Stixxx. I've never ridden an SS so, I can't really comment on them. They do have a solid reputation though.

I personally ride a skim style. It's more of a hybrid though. It's a 54" skim twin. It's not as fast the new surfstyle boards with their giant fins but, its faster than just about any skim out there. Where it shines is in it's turning ability. In comparison to surfstyle boards, its like going from a Cadillac to a go-kart. Infinitely quicker when turning but, its not gonna win a drag race against a big V-8.

Like I said, ride everything you can. Even the popouts. Find what you like and don't like. Any info is good info.

Id love to have Nickypoo's set up. So much easier and keeps floor space open. Bags take up a lot of room, course we keep the back locker full with a tube and set of ski's. Most of time I have too many people for the bags, so I just run the 200# under the back seat. They are steel 100# weights.

Oh yeah, I can't stand things laying around the boat especially with kids in the boat....but I will have to deal with it for now to see what kind of wake I can throw. Hopefully I will be able to arrange some sort of configuration as yours someday soon.

I'm definately gonna look at the Flyboy, sounds like one I might like. Hopefully I will be able to test drive a few different ones.

              Again, great information...thanks.
