Most boat owners price the boat for what they owe on the loan rather than what it's worth. So if they got hosed by dealer then you get these unrealistic asking prices for a used boat. So if new is $93, bank required 10% down then $84 is still owed on loan. This doesn't include sales taxes which in my state is 6%. I don't particularly like these feeler threads because we all would sale our boat for the right price. Well not me cause I don't own and I'm currently looking for my perfect Tige RZ2.

The thing is you guys are doing all kinds of guessing and basing a lot of stuff off conjecture etc.... We don't know how much he paid, how much he owes, how much he is willing to let it go for etc.... Jump on Onlyinboards.com and look at 1 year old boats. They aren't selling for 25k less than new price. More like 8-10k. Which really doesn't matter at all because once again we have no idea what he paid or will let it go for. PM the man if you are really interested in buying it.

Okay for reference we paid 48k for a brand new 2010 Axis A22 in July 2010. It was traded in not even a private party sale for 43k after 15 months, 250 hours and an engine replacement. 10% loss after 15 months. I can agree that you may see a higher than 10% loss on a boat that runs 85k+. However I absolutely do not agree that you will lose 25k or even 25% in one year of ownership. On an 85k boat even a 15% loss makes it 72-73k boat. It is certainly not a 65k boat after a year.

It's also got a lot to do with the deal you get on the front end. If you pay more than most people pay for a similar boat, you are going to take a bigger depreciation hit. If you pay less, you take less of a hit. So if you pay 90k for the boat that everybody else is getting for 82k, then you're going to take the same depreciation as the 82k guys, plus an 8k haircut to put you into parity.
At the end of the day it's willing buyer / willing seller. The boat is only truly worth what someone will pay for it.
I bought an 06 vride at the bottom of the market in september 2009 and sold it last july 2011. We'd put 165 hours on it and I sold it for what I bought it for (albeit with some upgrades along the way).

I kinda agree with both Bruizza and Shawndoggy. I think a lot of it has to do with the boat itself and how appealing it is to the majority of the people looking at it. This boat is not polarizing by any means and was very nicely designed so I think ecutter will do well.
I'm considering selling my boat to upgrade to either ecutter's Z3 (should he have a moment of weakness and accept my ridiculous offer) or a 2013 RZR which I contacted my dealer about today. Based on some comments in this thread, the asking price for my boat (if I decide to sell it) will probably cause some serious head scratching!

This is an interesting discussion. I have a 2010 RZ2 for sale in the classifieds and have gotten a lot of interest but probably only 1 semi-solid offer of 57k. I have it listed at 67k and based on other boats for sale online and the info I got from my dealer I should expect to get somewhere in the low 60's which I'm willing to take. I know my dealer has been selling new RZ2's in the 80's (are other places selling cheaper?) which I don't see a 20k difference between my boat and a new 2012.
Call me crazy, but I don't see an over supply of boats for sale which would drive the price down significantly. I think the seller should expect to take a hit but not to the tune fo 20k. Only scenario would be if the seller paid a premium price that was above what others have been paying. The seller needs his boat to be marketable against a new boat and Tige's lack of transferring warranties hurt the most when selling the first year.
