    JD Power

Did you see the 2006 rankings?

Thought Tige would have done a little better, especially in the value category. Not sure how MC can be a better value.

I got one of those and gave Tige the highest marks possible.

I think that what you would find is that most owners are pretty satisfied with their boats and the 'real' difference between Correct Craft and the others would be very small. For example, I would be willing to bet that CC had a satisfaction score around 4.7 out of 5 and that the Moomba was about 4 out of 5. Then JD powers puts up their graph to show the separation between them.

Although there may not be as big a difference between Tige and CC, I still think JD powers tries hard enough to sample enough people to detect that there is a difference. This sends a message for Tige to keep working at it.

There are quite a few manufacturers not even listed. I guess it is like the acadamy awards and is good to even be nominated.

I am gonna cry sour grapes!

I have repeatedly seen JD Power rank objects/vehicles/whatever much higher than deserved. One must remember that JD Power is a "FOR PROFIT" organization, and mysteriously those who pay the most to be included in there surveys are always ranked the best.

If this were a more reputable company i would take it more seriously.

On the other hand, the NMMA, a non profit, marine watch dog of sorts, gave tige their CSI award for excellence. This is a CSI program that is submitted to every manufacturer customer's, and is run by a third party= no bias in my mind.

I just had to chime in!

'The 2006 Boat Competitive Information Study is based on responses from 12,255 owners who registered a new boat between June 2004 and May 2005.'

So ratings are for model years 2004 and 2005.

With no details on models, size or options.

Of the 12,255 how many were Tiges?

          How many were Malibus?

          How many were MAsterCrafts?

          Which models?

Also, of the 12,255 how many were 2004 Tiges
            How many were 2005's?

How many were 2004 Malibus and how many were 2005's?

How many were 2004 Master Crafts and how many were 2005's?

They may have compared 2004 Tiges to 2005 Mastercrafts.

            When were they questioned?

After a few months of ownership or a year plus of ownership?

Were they all questioned after the same duration of ownership?

This is like a political poll and easy to position as needed.

              Condor,

Tell me how the JD powers rankings work. A company pays in to be included and some pay more than others?

I bought my 05 in August 04 and didn't get my survey until August 05. So my boat was 1 year old.

What I would really like to see with car and boats is to poll people who bought a vehicle 4-5 years ago and see how satisfied they are now.

                  Tweirich,

Don't you have to get a NEW boat to get one?

I know a guy you can talk to...

                    Hi Talltigeguy,

I will find out exactly how the JD Power reports work, but what i have been told is that manipulate numbers by targeting certain models. Example, when i was a Monterey boat dealer, all the customers who bought our 18' entry level boat would receive questionaires. Yet those who bought the 21' upper end machine never received those surveys. So you can see how numbers would be skewed. I know it sounds like i am a whiner here, but truly the survey results are not accurate. NMMA is a legit organization, and they give us the highest marks for CSI. Tige also conducts it's own in house CSI surveys, just to keep us on our toes.

I know that it takes a while to fill those surveys out as customers, but please guys it helps us make a better boat, etc etc.

I will report more with the JD Power stuff when i can.

Just a quick comment on the JD Power survey, there were not 12000 inboards built and unfortunately, the biggest markets that we have can not get polled due to the State not releasing the information to varify the registration. I feel this has a lot to do with the ratings and also the good old American dollar.

May be a little bias but I am very proud to have received the NMMACSI Customer Service Award. We at Tige have worked very hard at Customer Service. Also there is only 2 of us that handle all the Customer Service issues that may arise along with keeping the dealer network happy.

                      Again may be bias
