21I tige. Fuel pump and filters

Can some explain to me where is the Water/fuel seperator. I have a 5.7L 340 HP that dies and after sitting all night starts and runs good for about 30Min and repetes. I was told to change the water/fuel seperator and inline fuel filter but cant find them. I found a small canister but it may be a fuel pump. Has two wires on the bottom. The gas line runs into it. Then out of it a line goes into a large what I thought was the electric fuel pump. Now I am wondering if that is a fuel seperator but I dont know how it comes apart. Never found any inline filter.
    HELP

What year is your boat? Is it fuel injected or Carb? Fuel water sep will look like an oil filter on the older ones it will be on the starbord side right behind the belt/pulleys. Some have a plastic cover over them thatjust pops off. Then the newer ones have inline ones some have 2 inlines just depending on year model.

      21i

I have a 2002 21i....as Ruger mentioned the fuel/water seperator looks just like an oil filter and is on the starbord side right behind the belt/pulleys. The inline fuel filter should be mounted to the inside wall of the engine bay. Right underneath the floor level.

If it's a Mercruiser, it should look like this diagram.

What year boat and engine manufacturer? 340 HP sounds like a Marine Power engine.

How often should one change the water/fuel seperator? I'd like to change it before I see any problems.
