Ewok and I have been discussing putting one or more floor drains in the fiberglass, so that water that passes through DECKadence/Poseidon flooring has somewhere to go and doesn't just accumulate in corner puddles. On a level boat, the water would probably pass under the rear center seat support - but on surf ballasted boats the rear corners are the low spots and the water just pools there.
On my 24Ve, the engine stringers extend forward to either side of the fuel tank. In this photo, you can see the port stringer just "above" the fuel tank:
Where I'd want to put a port side floor drain is in that corner at the top of the photo, in front of front-most drink holder. The stringers are a couple of inches thick, so that area of the floor should be to the outside of the port stringer. There is a similar "corner" on the starboard side of the floor as well.
Question is: What is below those areas of the floor?
Has anyone installed floor drains like this? Any ideas on location, or other handy tips?
Thanks!
