I currently own a 1996 pre2100wt , love the boat, just cant wakesurf behind it. looking to upgrade and really want to get a good boat for wakesurfing. Also hopefully less of a nose dunking boat, looking to spend between 30 -40 k. is a 21v big enough or do i need a 22v, rz2 or any surfable direct drives, im really scratching my head on this one???????? May spend up to 50 if i fall in love with a boat.

a decent wakesurfing wake is my goal at this time, The wife sat in a 2007 rz2 yesterday and i had to get her out with a trail of 100 dollar bills. She says a new RZ2 is what she wants but not in my price range. may be willing to spend more on a rz2 if it is what i should get.

I love my RZ2. I just had some friends out on it that have a 2006 AiR Nautique 226 and they were drooling over my wake. To be fair they are relatively new to wakesurfing and only had 1 400 fat sac plus the 900 lb factory ballast from nautique. And my buddy who was new to driving my boat did dunk the bow a tiny bit and a little water spilled over the bow but every new driver on my boat does that.

They were in awe of the storage and the seating arrangement. Their boat has a nice walk through transom similar to my walkover transom area, but theirs cut deeply into the storage area and mine does not.

Anyway, if you can find one in that price range I would go for it, it's got way more room than your used to, but still feels light and nimble on the water.

ps, when you get one, and you go to replace the steering cable, use a 21' teleflex extreme.

RZ2 and 22VE are both excellent surf wakes. Both ride and handle excellent. They both have lots of passenger room and storage area. You can't go wrong with either. If you go up to your maybe price range you will find the boat of your dreams.
I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

Bigger is better.....RZ4 is the only way to go.

                Here is someone selling a 22Ve -

I love my 22Ve. I mostly do surfing, but it make a beautiful wakesurf wake also.

The 22Ve and RZ2 are very close in performance. I believe the hulls are identical. The bow ballast weighting and swim platforms are the differences.

While I have a 24ve & love the extra space, I think you (and more importantly your wife) will love a 22ve or Rz2. For your price range, a used 22ve may be a bit less expensive. Tige 22' boats hit the sweet spot.

If there are any 24v's or 24ve's around, check them out too--a bit harder to weight-but get the Enzo Sac from Chpthril and you'll be golden. You'll never regret the extra room.

The Z3 is truly the killer boat, but not in your stated price range

                  Happy shopping.

RZ2 and 22ve/v are great..but look into an R20 for the $$$ the thing is hard to beat. Surf and WB wakes very nice. Although you may have issues with the wife loving the RZ2 she may not think the R20 big enough...but its worth a look.

Great info everyone, thanks, I'm going to explore all my options including the rz4 and 24v, they almost seem to be cheaper and easier to find than the 22v and rz2. No rush on this one , I have till next spring.

That's because people don't want to sell the 22V or RZ2's...

Yup, I'm in no rush to sell mine, and according to NADA, and the 2009s I see for sale, my boat is worth more now than what I paid for it!
