    2004 Tige 22V losing power

Two bad weekends in a row. Last week went out for first surfing run and as soon as we got under way, lost power and engine ran hot. Our marina ordered a impeller and had the boat running for this weekend. Had the owner of my company and his family for their annual 5 day visit which means all tubing and no surfing. When they finally left my wife and I grabbed a neighbor and went surfing. My wife got in a few runs as did the neighbor. I got up and we once again lost power. This time however the engine was not overheating. We restarted it and it would start fine but when you tried to give it gas it would stall. It also made a strange noise when it was idling, almost like air escaping (hard to describe). But once again back to the marina and they will be out to look at it sometime this week. Has anyone had a similar experience or have an idea of what this could be? Just seems like I am having a bad year with my Tige, and it only has 150 hrs on it.

    Help!!!!

150 hours on a 2004 is not a lot of hours, are you the original owner? If you bought it from a previous owner with so few hours there is bound to be other issues that will pop up. How is the steering? Your current problems may me coming from a fouled up fuel system, your fuel filer might be clogged. I would change it anyhow. I'm sure others will chime in soon but it's not necessarily a good thing that a 2004 has 150 hours.

Thanks for the response....I am not the original owner, purchased it 3 summers ago from the original owner and it has run great up until these last 2 weekends. The Impeller went out last week as I mentioned and my concern is that when they did the impeller repair that they disconnnected something and didnt get it put back to together correctly and then caused another issue. I am sure its just paranoia but when you have had 2.5 summers with no issues it makes you wonder.

So are you saying it ran fine for tubing but runs bad only when you try and surf?

          2004 Tige 22V losing power-Update

It did breakdown while surfing and not when we were tubing but I think that was more timing...if I had been tubing not surfing yesterday afternoon I think it still would have happened.

The marina just called and said the noise the engine was making was from the Idle air control valve. They think there could be a break in what the termed fuel pick up line down in the gas tank. They said that there is not enough fuel getting sucked in which makes the IAC valve kick in (thus the rushing air sound I am hearing), they also said there was a lot of air in the fuel lines. They suggested I fill the boat with gas and see if that corrects the problem. There thought was if its a crack in the fuel pick up line once the crack/break gets below the gas line it should run fine until the gas level falls below the crack/break again. If that doesnt fix the problem then we look to a fuel pump or fuel filter etc.

That is where I am at currently.
