    2004 Tige 22V losing power

Two bad weekends in a row. Last week went out for first surfing run and as soon as we got under way, lost power and engine ran hot. Our marina ordered a impeller and had the boat running for this weekend. Had the owner of my company and his family for their annual 5 day visit which means all tubing and no surfing. When they finally left my wife and I grabbed a neighbor and went surfing. My wife got in a few runs as did the neighbor. I got up and we once again lost power. This time however the engine was not overheating. We restarted it and it would start fine but when you tried to give it gas it would stall. It also made a strange noise when it was idling, almost like air escaping (hard to describe). But once again back to the marina and they will be out to look at it sometime this week. Has anyone had a similar experience or have an idea of what this could be? Just seems like I am having a bad year with my Tige, and it only has 150 hrs on it.

    Help!!!!

yes I had the same thing happen. You impeller is bad again. The fuel runs through a cooler I believe and when the impeller goes bad it sends hot air in the cooler and cause the motor to vapor lock causing that hissing sound.

I had my raw water pump go bad last year. The first symptom was overheating and loss of power. Replaced the impeller and it happened again a few hours later, swapped impeller again and then once more the same weekend. The seal was going bad on the pump and it was sucking air in through the rear of the pump instead of sucking water through.

It was overheating every time though.

Could you have caught something on the prop? The last time I wrapped a line, I figured it out because the boat died every time I put it in gear.
