    Interior care after rain

    Hello everyone,

I just picked up my first wakeboard boat, an 08 22ve, Thursday and already got caught with my pants down. Went out with some buddies yesterday, left the boat uncovered to dry out, and woke up this morning to thunderstorms and a heavy downpour. There's no standing water but everything is soaked. Any recommendations other than opening the compartments and praying for dry weather? What's the best way to let the cushions dry out?

    Thanks

I would take the cushions out and let them dry. Especially the two rear corner ones, they really soak up the water. I would also make sure your drain plug is out. I have seen some people put fans in the boats to help them dry out.

You could also take a shop vac to it.

    Mold is the enemy.

PS Welcome to the site and congrats on your boat. Post some pics of your boat when you get a chance.

I take the cover off & let it dry out. Never had a problem as long as I do it shortly after it gets wet.

All cushions out, in the sun. I always use a shop vac to suck the water out of all the carpeting in the boat...lockers, etc

And if your in TX you shouldn't have to wait long for the sun to dry it out :d

Good luck and welcome to TO!

I agree with the shop vac. It might take a few passes to get the water out of the carpet. Then leave the hatches open. I also like to pull all the removable cushions, and take out any other gear that might hold water (PFDs, lines, and such) and hang them up in the garage to let them dry out.

Prop you cushions up also, it seems to help drain the water.

I agree with the shop vac suggestions, especially in those hard to dry places. My boat likes to hold water underneath the bow ballast sacs. It helps tremendously when I suck all the excess water out of these areas. Sometimes it needs to be done more than once, but usually only takes a few times before things start drying out nicely. Other than that, just open everything up to promote ventilation.

Get a boat cover made for hot humid weather and be happy.

Wow! That is awesome, you can camp in that thing!

My boat gets rained on often with and without the cover on. Even with my cover on, I get moisture inside the boat. Since Utah lacks humidity, it dries out very fast and I have never had a problem with mold.

It was custom made Trojan. One bolt of Sunbrealla and it's all good.

It's stays wet and humid here in FL 6 months out of the year, plus it keeps our Wetsounds speakers in new condition (very important).

It's a bitch to put on but so worth it in the long run.

Here's another picture with the side skirt and wheel covers on (swim platform off).

Are those dual tow hooks on the transom factory or custom? Either way, they are slick.
