    New Law

Just learned of a new law that will count ballast as part of the capacity for the boat. For some boats that mean either ballast and 1 person in the boat or the family and no ballast.
Supposedly this law will take effect next year.
Just another reason to buy a tige.
    Anybody else heard about it.

Well if you are using ballast and are at max capacity than you are probably over the weight maximum anyways - Unless all your occupants are kids. Really doesn't it all depend on if the ranger wants to hassle you or not? If I had to guess I would think that that just means that they count that weight as human weight and not as a "person".

The ballast systems have an empty switch to unload them when you see the blue lights.

          Hey CP3
I just checked out your gallery - Thats a nice looking boat, cool paint sceme. I see you ride at Mead, any issues with water over the bow out there? I've only been there twice but both times it was super windy and choppy, atleast where we were. The reason I ask is that I take water over the bow from time to time at San Vicente and it doesn't get half as choppy.

            Rushin- All States

Lee- show me a system that can do it in 30 seconds.

Dliguori- If mead has like 4 foot swell we just turn around. we have done that twice now. There arnt too many places on mead to get out of the wind. Thanks for the compliments.
Only time we took water over the bow, the water was calm and DAD was driving. I dont think I need further explaination.

CP3- show me a way they can measure how much weight you have in your boat while on the water and/or if ballast is full or empty with hard tanks.

Does anyone know where i can view this law, or has anyone read it verbatim? This would be a great tool for me.

Also, i have seen a newer supra 2006 model, with a sign on the capacity sticker saying that ballast counts against the cap. weight.....This boat had the GravityIII system....something like 2500lbs!!

I have heard in the past that ballast does count against your max weight - I don't think that is a new thing. As far as counting as a person - I have no idea, haven't read anything about it.

                    Simple.....

Simple Lee... Tige Guy...Via a Watermark on the hull........ 99 % accurate in freshwater... That is how they do it on commercial vessels..ie the redline...

How will they know where the water mark is when full and when empty and the weight that it took to get it to that level. Would not every model boat react differently to equal amounts of weight?

I would think that if they go to that much trouble for all wakeboard boats then they need to change the priorities of what they are doing. On our lakes there are more drunks in runabout boats crashing into things for them to worry about than to harass wakeboarders.

Another issue to think about is your insurance policy. If the insurance company found out you were overloaded after something happend, that would give them an easy out not to pay a claim.
