Our blower is making a bad sound, and I suspect we'll have to replace it. Is it proper to run our blower all the time or only before start up and for a few minutes afterwards? Are the blower motors built to run full time?

The blowers that come with our boats are not designed for continuous duty, they are cheap inline blowers with the minimum CFM for the boats. I replaced the blower in my old boat after 10 years or use and replaced it with this:

Or something similar to the above. It was quieter and had a greater CFM and the one I installed was rated for continuous duty.
Right or wrong, my technique is to run the blower all the time the engine is on to supply the engine with cooler fresh air and to attempt to reduce the temperature in the engine compartment. Since the blower pulls air from the bottom of the bilge and the hot air is at the top of the compartment it might not make a huge difference but it's better than nothing I figure.2009 RZ2, PCM 343, MLA Surf Ballast, Premium Sound.
