3 Problems in less than 3 months

    Guys,

I'm new here. Got a new Z1 this year and love it. However, I'm having a few issues and wondering if this is normal, or if it should be serviced.

    1. Got an after market ballast (Fat-Sacs) install by the dealer. The front sacs don't fill unless they are manually primed. Dealer told me to tie the hose up to the floor....

    2. TAPS plate is working, but not recording on the screen. Seems to be a wiring issue.

    3. Took it out last weekend, and all of a sudden, the steering wheel needs to be upside down to go straight. If before the top of the wheel was at 12 O'Clock, it's now at 5 O'Clock.

Just wondering if these are common issues and I should be ok tinkering with it, or if these are things the dealer should be working on?

    Thanks!

    Derek

Some guys on here do 100% of their own work and others take it to the dealer for everything except gas. Mostly depends on your mechanical abilities and your wallet, at least for me. However, if it's a brand new boat, the dealer should take pretty good care of you.

      hmmm..

mine is brand new-5hrs and has had your issue number 2 since new. wonder if there's a bigger issue with that and if it will be a long-term every few years issue..

I took mine back to the dealer last thursday with the couple of issues that the boat has. diagnosed and parts ordered. I figure if it's broke within the warranty, let them fix it even if I can. makes it a lot cleaner if it's a recurring issue and you have dealer service records for all the repairs.

after warranty, all bets are off

I had the taps issue. It was a bad sending unit from the factory. Simple fix at your dealer.

          1. Even though the sacs are not factory, the dealer should fix them. I never heard of "priming". You say aftermarket and then front sacs-is this sac in additon to factory ballast or was there none at all and this was added? Just curious either way the pump should suck the water up but not while you are moving. Maybe there is a leak and the pump is sucking air?

          2. Take it to the dealer-should be under warranty
          3. See #2 - I would not attempt to use the boat at all, maybe there is a steering issue where the cable is not connected to the rudder, worst case you lose steering while using it. That would scare me a bit.

Lastly, these boats are hand built and may have a few hiccups in the beginning and should be worked out after the first year or 25-50 hour mark. I had a few issues the first year in my Z1 now all is good and we are loving it every time we go out.

Had the same issue with the steering wheel among other things. My dealer was able to take care of it no problem. I would say your problems seem pretty normal. I had a whole laundry list of things to fix the first time it went back. Every one of them was taken care of and covered under warranty. Good Luck!
