So I emailed ACME for info on upgrading props. Sales rep says the 1579 is the upgrade for me on my RZ2.

I ask about the Acme 1273/1235....he replies....

they are 1" larger in diameter...it takes more energy/HP to spin a bigger prop...you would get even less low end performance than your Acme 537...plus there could be a clearance issue between the prop and the hull...

Yes, this is true, but doesnt necessarily equal a drop in performance, especially with a 5.7/343 or more. If you increased the Dia and maintained the same pitch, then yes, you would absolutely notice a loss in performance.

No physical clearance issue that i'm aware of on any of the late model Tiges. As far as I know, they are still using the same strut and shaft. Its not even close enough to cause blistering on the hull. Kinda funny, isn't Wicked testing a 15 on his RZ2?

The 1235 is a good prop for the RZ2, especially for surfing. it may not be the right prop for you, but IMO, not for the reasons given.

Yeah, but the fact that you are running a 15 blows the clearance theory out of the water....even though we already knew it wasn't a problem.

We have the 1235 on a 2012 RZ2 with the 343 and it does awesome.

Until the advent of the new 15" and/or 5 blades, the 1235 was almost universally acknowledged as an incredible step up from stock for surfing.

Years ago, we went from a stock 537 on our 09 RZ2 (409PCM) to a 1235. The difference was amazing.

I really want a quicker more powerful hole shot, with minimum top end loss. I know I will lose some top end, but Id like to still be able to hit around 40.

Right now, the boat has a weird vibration when you hit it, and it's only at the start and end of getting on plane....the middle is smooth. Im wondering if it's cavitation??

I'd be surprised under normal water conditions if you could do 40mph with the 1235. I know the boats are different but my RZR with the EX343 and 1631 prop stock would do right at 44mph if the water was smooth and I gave it some time to get there. With the 1235, the boat barely touched 37mph.

Have a 1235 on my 2012 rz2 for all the weight we run wakeboarding and it'll easy touch 40 I've ran upper 40's before but I'm also at sea level. Motor is ZR409

X2 for sure. I think you got some bad advice. And so far the experience of people on this board backs that up. I lost 2-3 MPH on the top end with a switch from 537 to 1235. I know it is an entirely different setup, (Malibu with 383 Hammerhead), but I think the principle is still pretty similar. And my hole shot makes me feel like I can pull tree stumps.
