Hello! Been lurking here for awhile and absorbing a lot of good info! I'm looking to purchase a boat this winter/upcoming spring and am lost on what to choose! My purpose would be MAINLY wakesurfing amongst being a cruiser. I have read a lot of different opinions but am lost on what year and model to get me where I wanna be. Some personal experiences and input would be great! Budget being around 60k....what would be my best fit for the perfect surf boat????? I would be glad to give more details if needed. All input appreciated!

Depending on how many people you want to carry i would recommend 2007 to 2009 22VE OR RZ2.Also a new R20 or a Basic RZR would work. They are 20 foot boats with a 94" beam. The Z1 is a 21' boat with a 100" beam and you could get a 2011 or 2012 in your budget. The 22VE and RZ2 would give you the most room inside and the smoothest ride. All of them are excellent surf boats. Please tell us more about where you store your boat? How many people you will carry? What else you will use it for if anything besides cruising.I do all my own stunt work. hey ya'll watch dis.

If you have a size limit you may want to consider a 20V which can be used to surf ski and board. If you have towing limitations and typically have 6 or seven on board with a little ballast it can be used to surf. It is 20 ft with 96 inch beam and as a small onboard it can ride well in rough water and it handles extremely well. With the 5.7L it is a blast to drive.

Thank you all for the quick replies!!! My home lake where the boat will be on a lift is 800 acres. Decent size and plenty of space to surf. Not to mention the other lakes that are within 15 minutes from there. Most of the time during the week there would be just 3 of us surfing...weekends may produce more people. Sometimes quite a few to get to the sandbar and back. 22ft I think would be the ideal size...not sure if 24 is needed? Remember the decision will be based more so on affordability and best surfing wake. Only NEEDED options would be decent space and a damn good stereo system. No real restrictions I guess, just basic laws. Looking for long term ownership that will serve about every purpose. Specific years and models in that price range anyone? Your help is greatly appreciated! I will be actively watching this thread and doing what I ca to help you all help me...thanks again!!! Almost forgot...storage is not an issue. In a huge barn closed up, not heated

X3 on Talls suggestion. We have a 2010 22Ve and love the boat for it's space and wake. We've been doing a lot of surfing this summer and have got the wake dialed in. We have the pro ballast setup with ours. I can anwser any questions you might have about the 22Ve, just let me know.
Setup: Portside rear 100%, starboard side rear 25%, portside front 100%, & starboard front side 50%. Speedset 10.5mph, TAPS 4, and we run an additional #500pd fat sac on portside rear.

I'm thinking you're probably not out here in southern ca, but here's a boat I've seen online a few times. I really like the RZs, and although this one is a few years old, it has super low hours.

Here are a few that were listed for sale on the forum lately, All of them are very nice looking boats, Two Z1's, Two 22Ve's and a RZ2, Where are you and how big is your crew? Storage concerns?

I am located in NE Indiana. I like the 22VE RZ2 has really caught my eye. Is it necessary to add fat sacs to both of these boats? Rucks mentioned adding 500 pounds to the port side...I really woulkd like to try and avoid that if possible. I wish the 67k RZ2 was around 60k...I would be all over that boat! Sharp! Storage isnt too big of a concern as long as there is room for the required life vests, ropes, and a couple tie off boueys. Pros -- Cons between the 22VE and the RZ2?

Unless the boat has the factory surf ballast system or a good aftermarket system your going to need to add sacs in both the 22ve and the RZ2. The cockpit layout and bow seating in the RZ2 gives 1 more person to the capacity but the storage is about the same. If you can, try to find a dealership that might have both boats and figure out which one you like best. The hulls are very similar as are the wakes.2009 RZ2, PCM 343, MLA Surf Ballast, Premium Sound.
