I'm been on the boat hunt for a while and one thing I've noticed is that it seems alot of the boats have upholstery that is coming apart at the seams. Is this a normal thing for Tiges? The boats I am looking at are relatively low hours ( 100-200). Is this normal? It's making me think that. I really like everything else about the boats though. Is this something tige has changed on newer models?

2010 was the first year of the ribbed vinyl.

That new flip up observer seat seems to have some alignment problems, my 2009 vinyl is holding up well and I like the way my observer seat works. The backrest flips up but the seat is a seperate piece that is removable.2009 RZ2, PCM 343, MLA Surf Ballast, Premium Sound.

When I compare the vinyl and constuction o nboats made by Tige to 2009 the vinyl strtching and seams pulling was a concern as well as vinyl quality. When Tige re-addressed it with stiffer foam, better thread and a better grade of vinyl you should be able to get a lot more life on the late model boats. My 2007 showed signs of pulling stiching and stretched vinyl when I sold her with under 100 hours in the summer of 2009. I had two conerns on my 20V. How the vinyl will hold up and the lack of grab bars for cockpit passengers. With the way the Tige 20V could turn it was to easy to hurt someone whoo had nothing to hold on to. Fast turns where only executed when It was me and 1-2 passengers where they could use the bow grab rails or the tower to hold on.

I have a 2012 RZR with the observation seat (flip up seat) issue where the seat back and bottom seam upholstery ripped 2 inches. I will be getting a new skin sent to me (in a few months) to have my local upholsyery shop install.
I wish the seat bottom was NOT sewn to the back rest. This seat gets stepped on (to install/remove bemini) where increased pressure on the upholstery stich line naturally occurs. The bottom and back could have been made separate and then screwed to backer pannel so it still flips up as 1 unit.Nick

I have an 09' Z1 with 200+ hours and our vinyl is all good. Something else I notice is how the boat is stored. If it is outside with no cover, UV Rays seem to kill vinyl in a hurry. Our boat is in a covered garage when not in use and we wipe it down with water spray after every use. About the only time it sits out side (covered) overnight is when it is at the dealer and the occasional once or twice a year weekend trip.Friends don't let friends POWERTURN
